Powder Hot Chocolate vs homemade alternative

I've always been a fan of Swiss miss... Its easy and fast to make..

Am I missing out?

unsweetened cocoa powder
sugar (you can use brown sugar too)
pinch of salt
milk

heat and serve

yes. my mom used to whip up a big old batch using carnation powdered milk and a bunch of ju-ju. i have no idea what the ju-ju was, but man that was some good hot chocolate..much better than swiss miss i'm assuming because my mom was using fresh ingredients

eta i should point out she'd put the dry mix in a massive tupperware container and send it home with me and i could make hot chocolate for people for a year from the one container.

You don't necessarily have to make it yourself - just upgrade from Swiss Miss, like Ghiradelli, Godiva or whatever else.
