Why does this matter? Saban is at Bama now. Miles is at LSU. End of story.

I saw this question and was looking forward to reading the responses. It matters very much. Saban is the standard in the West. If we don't like it at LSU and refuse to acknowledge it we cease to be competitive. If Miles is not able to beat Saban and we don't care because Les is our coach then we are OK with never going to the SEC Championship game anytime soon. Like it or not Saban being a better coach than Miles has everything to do with our relavance in the SEC and in the West division. This is what makes me believe the fan base is OK with 2nd or 3rd place in the West. Deep down they know Les is not going to be able to compete consistently against Saban. Lying to yourself won't make this situation go away.

Miles can recruit and motivate his team better than Saban

bullshite. Saban is the better recruiter and his success reflects obvious motivation.

I would rather have miles because he will be here even when we win. We have to give him time thats all. He will get it right one day!

No, he isn't. But, he can bring in quality assistants and recruit well enough to compete with Saban.

I hope for the sake of all of us that you have absolutely no pull with the LSU athletic department.

It's not even close when comparing Saban and Miles. NS clearly is the better coach. I'd say Miles is probably a top 10 recruiter, Saban a top 5 recruiter.

The bottom line is Les Miles is a very good coach but he's not in Nick Saban's class.

Miles will compete for SECw titles. Saban will compete for NC's.

While both are very good recruiters, Saban coaches his talent up better than Miles. End of story.

We've played them 3 times since Saban has been there and been competitive all 3 times. Beat them in '07, would have beat them in '08 if not for the pick 6 by Lee late in the game, and if Peterson doesn't spend most of the game this year with cramps, not to mention the horrible call on his interception, we very well would have beaten them this year. Saban might be the better coach but don't talk about not being competitive because that's just bull shite!

And the same guy who has recruited two straight #1 classes that have directly resulted in a 13-0 season. Also the same guy who had 2 #1 classes at LSU, as well as a #2 class that made way for two titles at LSU.

that miles is a better PERSON than saban?

I do, but unfortunately this has nothing to do with coaching. Why do all the a-holes have to be the great coaches?

Even though I'm still pretty mad about that Ole Miss debacle, I still like my quirky Les Miles!

And as far as coaching goes, I don't think he's that far behind Saban...the last two LSU/Bama games were so close and could've gone the other way if not for injuries/stupid refs/and J. Lee.
