I just picked up a PS3 and am wondering if anyone makes a good 3rd party controller. Or if anyone has a 3rd party controller they would recommend?

Other than price, why would you not get a PS3 controller made by Sony?

ETA, In my experience with T/P controllers, they never work as well. I had a couple for my PS2.

Well I have read some things about the PS3 controller battries not lasting very long and that when they die you have a hard time changing them out. Unlike the battery packs for XBOX 360 controllers.

My old roomate has a PS3 and played it ALL THE TIME, especially when MLB 09 came out. He never had any problems with either of his controllers.

i can attest to this, my controller only gets charged every 3 or 4 nights, and i've been playing every night

the controllers are each 2 years old, so they havent lost much life

i have one without the vibrate function and it lasts a lot longer too, i turned off the vibe in my other for this reason

Mine is old skool, sony, no vibrate...works great. I cannot complain. I have a t/p controller...sucks the arse. I never use it. I need to get a new one for when my one good one that I own goes dead and I have nothing to play with.

Supposedly, the new controllers aren't as good as the old ones. This was a way for Sony to cut cost and make up for the price drop.... no I don't have a link!

I actually prefer the Logitech t/p controller because its a little bit larger than the Sony..I switched from xbox360 over to PS3 and the larger controller has helped me make the transition. However I think the quality of the Sony is unsurpassed by any of the T/P options
