You can't grow a rose in Oregon

When will there be a Pac-10 vs. SEC team in a bowl game?
Personally, I would love it.

If the national championship is at the Rose Bowl and a Pac-10 team and an SEC team are playing for it. Other than that, never again.

They don't want none of this!

The PAC 10 knows what the SEC has done to the big 11! PAC 10 don't want that action!

the PAC 10 would rather play other conferences they can compete with...

It's going to be virturally impossible, after this year, due to the new Rose Bowl selection rule being implemented.

The Pac-10 committee would never willingly choose a game vs. the SEC.
Can't say I would blame them. Especially when they can routinely whip Big-10 teams year-in, year out under the guise of "tradition."

False. Let's see..has an SEC team played in the Rose Bowl? Yes.
Has a Pac X team ever played in the Sugar? No.
Have tiny arse little 2nd rate west coast teams played in the Sugar? Yes.
So the Sugar is fully comfortable allowing West Coast teams to play, as long as they aren't from the Pac X.
BTW, No the Sugar isn't "scared " of playing the PACX, just like the PACX isn't "scared" of the SEC. All this "he's scared, she's scared" crap is lame. Here's to a PAC/SEC bowl tie-in happening in the near future.

There is a reason the Pac-10 is the only major conference with NO bowl tie-ins with the SEC.
Before you bring up the Big East, they play in the Sugar Bowl pretty regularly.
Can't have the west coast exposed as frauds, after all. That's just Un-American.

Alabama was the last team to go to the Rose Bowl from the SEC in 1946

True

I wouldn't call Utah last year a second rate team. Or an undefeated Hawai'i team undeserving (yea they were overrated).

The Pac-10 should get better for a bowl tie in in the future.

I wasn't even thinking of Utah, I don't think of Utah as West Coast. And definitely wasn't thinking of Hawaii as West Coast! They're 2000 miles west of the west coast! I was referring to Santa Clara and St. Mary's, both California teams that have played in Sugar ( and probably don't exist anymore

Here's to hoping. There would be some darn good matchups

They were undeserving as hell. They played something like 10 or 11 teams with losing records, ran the table and acted like they were owed something. Then they were destroyed by Georgia in one of the most unwatchable Sugar Bowls ever.
Worst BCS selection EVER

The next time there is an SEC vs Big 10 title game, there's the possibility for it. The BCS made a new rule that the next time the Rose Bowl loses a team to the NCG, they MUST take an at-large team as one of its opponents.
If OSU were to go to the NCG this year instead of UT, then the Rose Bowl would get first pick of at-large teams since they lose their conference tie-in champion. They could take the loser of the SECCG before the Sugar Bowl gets their pick.

The bowl games are mostly in the south, so the bowls want teams near the south, and in minor bowls the pac 10 probable would not travel across the nation to see a bull shite game. it would happen if the bowl loosen up a bit, but most are totally tied up.

This is just stupid. Tennesse has lost to mediocre UCLA and also Cal recently. USC has scull fricked Auburn and Arky. LSU barely beats what is a bad Washington team.
The SEC is a better conference top to bottom. But to say they don't compete is just dumb. Arizona State lost at UGA on the last play of the game this year. That's the definition of "competing".
