RP Effect

A while back a rant discussed how hard it is for an underclassman QB to win in the SEC, even with talent around him. If we hadn't kicked RP of the team he would have been a senior this year. How different would things have been? Ideally you want a QB to learn for a few years before starting his junior and senior years. I agree RP had to go for the overall good of the program, but I believe we are still paying the price for making the "right & moral" choice. Just a thought.

of course, and this is something that, based on good number of daily posts, the fans, particularly this year, have overlooked.
Most everyone knew the last two seasons would be like they were -- you know, around 3 loses.
Next year looks good for the Tigers and the following year, even better.
QB is such a key position, and one that has been a recurring problem at LSU (i.e. maintaining a field general year to year). I recall the U of Miami during the Dennis Erikson era; Miami always seemed to have a great QB and back-up QB, and I have no doubt this was a key ingredient to their success.

NOT to be a DICK, But This just goes to show how good a recruiter LES is, THINK ABOUT IT!!!
BTW I don't think RP was all that and a bag of chips. IMO!!!!

Actually, one could also argue that we were left with only Andrew Hatch and Jared Lee as backup quarterbacks.
Had we actually signed anyone in the intervening years after RP we might have had a more suitable alternative to fill RP's shoes. After all, what if RP had been injured?
RP is just an excuse. It didn't effect the crappy D in 08 and it wouldn't have changed Crowton's pitiful play selection and lack of a scheme.

I am so tired of the conjecture, supposition concerning something that is just a woulda, coulda, didn't ....

People love to forget Les' genius of recruiting Perrilloux in 2005.
Ignoring it in 2006, which is what left us in a whole.
Bringing in Hatch (no shot at being a good QB in the SEC) and one legit QB in Lee in 2007.
Then people wonder why LSU got put in a horrible situation. You should always have 1 QB per class, unless you get 2 QBs like Russell and Flynn. We lucked out that Flynn didn't transfer after 2005.
You can't bank 2 entire seasons on 1 player as a coach. To do that is utterly stupid.
It also goes into the issues with our DL. We kept signing DL, especially DT that got switched to offense and now we are extremely thin at DT. Genius!!

RP is a legend.
Started 2 whole games.
Now he gets to take the blame for 2 years of crappy coaching.
