I've been struggling to find a word to describe the fact that the outcome of the Ole Miss debacle really had no bearing on the final outcome of the season.

Of course all games matter, but had we beaten Ole Miss we would have ended up in the same place (assuming we go to Cap One).

Best I can figure, it is basically par for the course in Les Miles career, in that the time he was totally exposed and all his faults were apparently demonstrated, the game didn't really matter in the end. Well, so long as it keeps up, I'll begrudingly accept lucky over good.

If we don't have the royal frick-up with clock management in that game, it is possible we don't learn from it and execute it correctly against Arkansas.

Again, 4 million a year...Miles shouldn't be "learning" anything at this point. Dickhead should know this shite already.

Pro athletes, making 10's of millions of dollars should never drop a pass, shank a kick, swing and miss, over throw a receiver, miss a lay up, drive drunk, or beat their girlfriends... But I could probably name a few that have.

The President of the United States, leader of the free world should never make a bad call either. But I think we've had a few that have...

Doctors that have 8 years of schooling and training, and make tons of great money shouldn't screw up, but they do.

Salary is not correlated to infallibility. People screw up. Sometimes they screw up in big, HUGE, monstrously embarrassing ways. Occasionally they create such a publicly humiliating gaffe as to spawn new new vernacular like "He committed a Miles on that play."

It happens. Ole Miss is over. Move on. The only thing that will make it go away is if you let it. Having our OWN fans continue to drag this crap up and berate it over and over again does nothing but lead to comments on ESPN like I heard yesterday, "Les Miles, who has been getting raked over the coals by his own fans on message boards and blogs,...."

I'm not saying you have to like it, just get over it. Unless you have a DeLorean with a Flux Capacitor, you're not changing what happened.

It's a hypothetical point. I mean, the past always impacts the future and it's impossible to say what would happen in any situation if you took out the truth. Look at Back to the Future...

But if you simply look at the results, win or lose vs. Ole Miss and we end up in the same place. It's astounding how things work out for Les and the bottom line line was not impacted at all by that screw up.

It may not have "implications" for the bowl series match up, but it sure didn't help with recruiting...

The ramifications of Miles Meltdown will manifest itself in the program and reap negative dividends that will outrun his tenure as head coach at LSU.

Dirt is right on. Next year will tell the story. I wish coach Miles the best . Second or third in the SEC West will not get him many votes from the fans or the AD. The LSU fan base will not accept this year in and year out. We have moved on to a higher level. He needs to step it up or he will be gone. My two cents.

the kids being recruited probably don't care

All sorts of fairly retarded behavior by folks like Orgeron while he was at Ole Miss and now Kiffin at UT makes fans laugh but seems to have zero effect on their recruiting classes

The big problem for Miles and the Ole Miss game was the effect it had on the LSU fan base... not recruiting

I agree the fan base has a "trigger finger" and will not accept mediocre coaching especially when the college is paying such a premium price. Although, I do not condone a man to lose his job, as we all have to eat. The cruel part of coaching is there is only a limited amount of wins to go around.

I would rather it happen against Ole Miss in a year where LSU had no chance at that point to make it to the national championship and very slim chances of making it to a BCS bowl game. Hopefully this clock management problem gets ironed out when LSU is in real contention for the championship with a solidified OL and a much more experienced Jefferson in his junior/senior year.
