Coyote Blues - Went tonight for 1st time in BR

tried the Laffy location several years ago....but took the family of 5 tonight. Dinner didnt start off very well, after seating...and waiting about 15 minutes before someone spoke to us.....I noticed the hostess walk back by our table...I caught her eye and she came by to tell me she was sorry...the waiter that had our section was not there yet (615pm) and she forgot to get a waiter to pick up our table. Hello.
Drinks:
Strawberry Marg, Mango Marg, TopShelf Frozen Marg, BL, ML, Glass of Cab with my dinner. The Mango Marg was awesome...wife had it...I tried. Winner.
Appetizer:
Cerviche - Was good, rather small portion. I didnt pay attention when reading description - said "Citrus." I am a lime freak and realize Cerviche is made with citrus, but this was created with more Orange than my liking. No big deal. Still tastey. (Will try the sampler with the pork tamale next)
Entrees:
Kobe Beef Fajitas - 2 ladies split this entree. They liked it alot.....I tried the beef alone, was seasoned very well and very tender. Cooked Med Rare-Med. Sufficient.
Coyote Crawfish Quesidillas - The gentleman that ordered this entree eats them all the time....and thought these were the best he had ever eaten. I tried a bite, they were very creamy with cheese sauce....crawfish were not chewey. I would suggest to a quesi eater.
Bone-In Ribeye - ordered rare.....this was pretty good to be in a mexican restrnt. Was accompanied by a very small amount of drizzled sauce and some very good sauteed veggies (Medley of zucchini, asparagus, squash). I tried a bite. Was good. If someone at my table the next time we go has his heart set on a steak, I would suggest. I told him about Afreaux's comments on the seafood stuffed filet, but he doesnt like stuffing........
Osso Bucco - My entree. This was suggested by our server. I was torn between getting a traditional mexican dish (enchilada, tamale, burrito, etc)...but the carne asada and osso bucco caught my eye. Asked the waitress...she said no brainer, the sauce on the osso bucco was phenominal. This was served with sauteed green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. The mushroom demiglaze that topped the perfectly seasoned pork shank was great. I will definately order again.
All in all...I tried everyones entrees....as they did mine. We all really enjoyed dinner. We will definately go back. The service from the waitress, once she finally arrived, was solid. The food made up for anything we questioned early.
Good addition to the BR restrnt scene.

We thought about going last night, but looked at the menu online and it seemed a little pricey for Mexican for a unimportant outing. We went to La Carretta instead.

I think you meant crawfish enchiladas, not quesadillas....and they are my favorite!

We tried this Coyote Blues for the first time a few weeks ago. I thought the Lousiana-Mexican fusion dishes were very good, I was particularly impressed with the nuevo crab enchiladas. If I'm looking for typical chips and salsa, tacos, and quesadillas, I'd go to the local taqueria, but Coyote Blues is great for a different spin on Mexican.

Thy do have crawfish quesadilla, mine had that aftertaste that you don;t want when eating crawfish.I do like the traditional mexican fare though.I'll stick to Mestizo for the seafood flare.

I had those when we went. Fantastic. Probably the best seafood-based Mexican dish I have had in BR.
Got a thumbs-up from my crew. It is a bit pricey, so it's not going to become our go-to Mexican place but I would say my food was worth the extra price. May not be true for the more generic things (which is what my kids eat--so maybe we'll go more this summer when they are at camp).
Margaritas were pretty tasty too, I thought.

Went tonight:
Drinks: Frozen Margaritas - Very good. Were a little heavy on the gran marnier, but probably just that bartender.
Apps:
Ceviche - Very good. Not the best, but like Bossman said it has a more citrus than lime flavor but still good.
Mayan Pyramid - Good. Woudln't get again, but it was a solid pork tamale w/ some a good black bean sauce.
Entrees:
Osso Bucco - ordered on Bossman's recommendation. Very good. Would definitely recommend. I have had better(but paide more) and could've been a little more tender. The demi-glace was very good. Don't hesitate to order.
Chicken fajitas - Good. Tortillas were typical and all the toppings were very fresh. Nothing to rave about but good.
Carne Asada - Only tried one bite and was good. Guy who ordered said it was real good.
Final say - All in all a good meal. Everything was real fresh. There were very distinct flavors between dishes which is sometimes not the case in mexican food around here. The meal was expensive, and more than I like to pay to when I eat Mexican(4 people @ about $180 w/ 2-3 drinks a peice and tip). It was packed at 7:30 with a 45 minute wait on a Friday night, but we were able to sit down at the bar while we waited.
I will go back, but it's not a place I will frequent regularly due to it being high priced Mexican.
I saw they had $1 margs on Monday and 2-4-1 on Tuesday so I'll have to go hit that up.

It was a good selection man. The food was really good. I don't remember exactly what everyone had, but we got to get a taste of a good mix of traditional Mexican dishes and fusion dishes. The traditional items I tasted were a lot better than most any Mexican in BR (that's not saying a whole lot, I know). Just the regular old chicken quesadillas (among other things) were great, you could tell they actually seasoned the meat vs. just throwing it into a tortilla. I'm a sucker for a good quesadilla, and they suck at so many places. The fusion dishes were all really good too. One person had the tuna, which was money. I had the Churrascurria. It was cooked great, but it was pricey for basically a really pretty kabob presentation. We'll definitely be going back to try some more items.
Minor, but worth noting at Mexican place...not a fan of the salsa, too much cilantro, not enough heat. Loved the green sauce. Great margaritas, had the regular, mango, and sangria.
ETA: sorry, not the best "review," but I'd definitely recommend the place.
