that is for sure. in 07 you could hear people talking from across that place. I kept looking for the dead body because i thought i was at a funeral. We walked right thru and nobody said a word to us [8 big dudes]. There were no smells [no cooking what so ever]which i find as a Very strange atmosphere. I know high school fans
that tailgate better than that...it was just a bunch of trees, nothing special.

Oh and I've never been for an LSU-Miss game, but at the game earlier this year, I overheard several Ole Miss frat boys talking about how many fights they planned on starting with LSU fans
Of course, at the time they were undefeated and highly ranked, so maybe their attitude has changed.

greaaaat.... so we're going to have to hold groz back from frat-tastic funboys.
the last time i went to ole miss, it was the year of the eli and that's all we heard about. luckily, we put a stop to that. i'm looking forward to hearing whatever smack they're going to dish out this year.

I got kicked out of the grove in 07 for trying to bring in a flask to the game. It was awesome though, found many tailgates to terrorize and get free shite. Man I would have liked to see some faces of those North Face figs.

does anyone know how much they pat girls down? and do they dig around in purses or just make you open them?
Posted on 11/18/09 at 8:46 am to geauxcubs23
In 07 they dug in my girls purse. Then I went through and they got me. Plus they do that shite now at the grove where people can text problems to the cops. I am sure some LSU fans will get harassed with that.

whoa, they can text from the stands to the cops? greaaat.
looks like a lot of LSU fans will be making bathroom trips with their drinks.

Yeah if we make it out of there w/o getting beat up or any legal troubles, I'd be fairly surprised

So what bar is everyone going to Friday night?
Posted on 11/18/09 at 9:08 am to NaturalBeam
I went on 05 and 07, dudes are dorks, most of the shite talking comes from the girls... they are all dressed up talk shite to all the other girls that aren't in cocktail dresses. In 07 this drunk fratty kid walked into the bathroom and told all the LSU fans he was "Prettier" then them, it was pretty funny. The BBQ nachos are awesome, gove is fun, but overrated.

one of us will get public intoxication... there's no doubt about that.

If you bring an ice chest, you have to put a clasp and padlock on it. no sheet. beverages need to be consumed in plastic cups, no open beers. In the grove, alot of folks have liquor out on their table; but, it's best to keep it in a box under the table. The University outsources security to a private company called Cobra; and, they can be bigtime pricks.
Come to Oxford, have a good time. Bring some good food, too.

Jake,and all Tiger tailgaters,
Go to Ol' Miss online full color parking map. You'll see a pink n' white long narrow lot in the upper right of the map; we're going to skip the baseball stadium parking this time and try that lot. I'm told a bunch of other Tigers are going there, too. I think it's $10 to park.

we are heading up friday morning. For anybody who will be cooking or has sound systems or a large setup, I think our best bet is going to be setting up around the perimeter of the grove.
The purple area is an area that a bunch of opposing team fans have been setting up. This area isnt all that big and like everything else, is 1st come 1st serve. Its tough to get a concrete answer, but the consesus is cooking is allowed anywhere other than in the grove itself (fire hazard).
The red area shown is another area across the street from the grove that would be fine as is the yellow area. Pretty much, anywhere on the perimeter of the grove should be fine for cooking.
As far as what time we can setup and reserve the spot is still a little questionable. It use to be 3am on saturday mornings but I suspect this weekend, it will be around 7pm friday night. The road that circles the grove is a load/unload road during games. As for parking, there is a $20 parking lot behind the performing arts center which is located right where Old Taylor Rd. T-bones into Univeristy Ave.
Remember, Oxford is stuck in the 50's so you must have all alcohol in cups and you can NOT display bottles on your tables. As long as the ground around you isn't peppered with beer cans or empty 5ths, everything should be fine.
