are the kids that usually turn out to be problems. Kind of telling that they are the ones who are easily convinced to be "silent committs", allow themselves to be part of a deal including their dads or high school coaches, etc..

Maybe Jai, but in Jai's case he wanted to stay home to be around his child. There weren't any underhanded dealings. BTW, that dude is probably grateful he did not end up at Michigan. Man, there is really no reason for kids to go anywhere but LSU.
