whats up with the 'new' uniforms?

i heard that LSU will be sporting new uniforms for the arkansas game. if heard they are ugly as hell! why doesn't LSU go to the throw back jersey's of their 1958 championship team! put some numbers on the helmets and roll with it!!!!!!!!

No to :beatdeadhorse: :beatdeadhorse: :beatdeadhorse: but here goes. As stated above the uniforms are for the arkansas game only to promote the new nike combat uniforms. The "inspiration" is from a "throwback" uniform ten years prior to the '58 season you mention, taking inspiration from the YA Tittle era. The helmets at that time were gold with a purple stripe and, as posted elsewhere, are similar to what Washington sports today. Here's a pic of the old helmet....

Throwback? As mentioned on the Buddy show today Miles would never do this at Michigan

Like it or not it is a "throwback" of sorts. And FWIW, Michigan doesn't have to worry about "throwbacks" their helmets/uniforms have been essentially the same for the past 60 years. Only difference I could find was in the '50's their helmets had numbers on the side like LSU.

Or to put it another way, they have a tradition worth holding on to.
