SEC OFFICIALS We have received numerous e-mails about the LSU vs. Alabama game and the performance of the officials in that game. Please be assured that there is a mechanism within our conference that allows coaches and administrators to voice their opinion about the performance of officials in SEC athletic contests. We will continue to refrain from making public comments about officials, but that does not mean we do not speak out loud and clear as an institution to the league office when appropriate.
I hope this means they ripped Slive and Redding a new one!

We'll never know what LSU sent to the SEC offices because Slive & Co. are trying to let this shite-storm blow over. I have to believe we did everything in our power to let it be known to the SEC offices that what happened this past Saturday in unacceptable.

Not likely...the day after Rogers Redding came out with his interview about it in which he basically said the only people who feel there was a problem were those with a vested interest on the other side.
As for Alleva...fine. They talked to the SEC about it. Who cares. The issue is, TO WHAT EFFECT did that conversation have? Was it a simply, "Hey...we're really REALLY mad!" To which Slive and Redding said, "That sucks for you...now shut the frick up or get fined." Or did they get some form of assurance that something will be done in the future...because if not, there's no point in talking to the SEC office about it. they'd have been better served by making the issue public and getting the media ginned up enough to start snooping into it.

Really when you think about it, the top schools in the conference should have quite a say when it comes to crap like this. If a school like LSU left the conference we surely would lose out on a lot of money, no doubt. But if you're a school with great football success, the conference would surely not want to lose you as a member. It would damage the conference quite a bit I think if one it's biggest schools up and left as the result of a scandal such as cheating refs. Did anyone hear about the book that the convicted NBA ref, Donaghy, has written and how he describes how refs make bets amongst themselves about calls and how they knew from the league office what they wanted to occur. I heard some excerpts read and it was really interesting. There was this guy who was known in the league as a "star-killer" or something like that. He was awesome on defense and his skills were so good that he could shut down or severely limit the points of any of the stars of the game. All of sudden, he started getting called for a ton of penalties because people paid to see the stars score a lot of points they didn't come to see a guy shut them down. Very interesting stuff and shows how a few calls here and there can completely change the complexion of a game or a series. For those who don't believe in "conspiracies," it's a bit of an eye opener that this stuff goes on more than we all know or want to admit.

It's just sickening that Alabama is over there yucking it up, praising the SEC officials over this. They are making statements, "But we think the SEC officials are doing a great job."
If Slive came down on LSU before we even complained, if he pulled a pre-emptive "You better not say anything or X will happen", then that makes me even more angry. The SEC office has never admitted publically admitted to LSU that officials have made mistakes. Not in 2006 vs. Auburn, not now. But they bent over backwards to apologize to UGA for throwing a flag on them, and in the same statement said the LSU's flag for excessive celebration was legit.
