i am looking into becomeing a auto technician/mechanic. i am 35 years old and looking to change careers. is there any mechanics that can advice me if this is a good industry to have a career in for money and job security.

I'm a propulsion mechanic. Do you want to stick strickly to car&trucks etc..? There's definetly money to be made in aerospace mechanics, especially if you get your A&P. I got all my training through te Air Force, and make 75,000+ a year(btw not bragging just letting you know about money)If you can get on with a defense contractor(Lockheed, Northrop) there's lots of money to be made.
