Conference Referee conspiracy
Now that the BCS Championship Game is worth millions to the conference, it is little wonder that conference referees are working the flags to protect their undefeated teams.

Just review the following games from Oct 17:

Texas v Oklahoma
Florida v Arkansas
Alabama v South Carolina

In each of these games, flagrantly inaccurate penalties were called in favor of the undefeated team, resulting in the undefeated team staying undefeated. All three were pass interference calls, although in the Florida/Arkansas game the referees threw in an additional and mystifying unsportsmanlike conduct call.

In the case of Alabama/South Carolina, the referees assistance was probably unnecessary, but at the time of the call the game was still uncertain.

Arkansas got the SHAFT. You will get it at Florida and Bama. Count on it. There is no way we can win at Bama. The refs will see to it.

Nice - personal foul. Either way, not reviewable.

Anyone playing Texas/Florida/Bama is going to be in for a rough day for the rest of the year.

With the BCS Championship payout at what, almost 20 million now, how was I so naive to think that the referees could stay neutral. The only chance for a loss is an out of conference matchup, and most of these teams (Texas in particular) have made sure that there is no chance there.

Bush Get's US out of Iraq War
Credit to George Bush for finally figuring a way out of Iraq. It was a stroke of genius, really. I wouldn't have thought him capable. He has insisted on a war budget that the Democrats in congress wont give him. So they will keep sending him budgets, he will veto them, the money will run out and the troops will come home. The Republican's can blame the Democrats for the retreat and failed financing of the war effort. The Democrats can blame the Republicans for failing to finance the war effort. It will be business as usual and Bush should get the credit for managing such a fine exit from the middle east.

Everyone should listen to him, the man is obviously a genius.

In the Pac-10 it's historically gone the other direction. USC is normally the most penalized team in the conference, which is fine because they play like fricking tards half the time, but USC's opponents are less penalized than anyone elses's opponents for 4 or 5 straight years, which makes no sense considering USC's talent advantage should cause more holdings ect.

+1 refs have entirely too much control over games now. that UF-ark game had some of the worst calls ever and thats saying something.

UT has always got the calls. See the fricking that Kansas got in 2005 on a call on 3rd and forever that just happened to give UT a first down late in the game and let them eventually win.

What would you suggest, the fans vote via text messaging?

NCAA has designed in too many subjective penalties that can have refs wrongfully influence the outcome of games. Additionally, there is virtually no consistency from game to game by the refs on these type of penalties. The payouts for these BCS bowl games and The Championship game have become so enormous, the SEC WILL have 2 teams in these games. No ifs, ands, or butts about it. An undefeated, top-ranked Florida WILL beat Arkansas in a close game no matter what, and the only influence the conference has in their control is the referee crew to solidify this outcome, if Florida can't do it themselves. It is one of the most obvious occurrences happening today.

How many times have you watched a replay on TV, and you could see a penalty that wasn't called that the ref on the field didn't/couldn't see? That TV angle was from up off the field level many times. Is this what happened to the no call on Riley Cooper holding Chris Hawkins? Why not put a ref or two or four up in the booth...off the field level where many lines-of-sights can be disrupted or blocked. Seems that having some eyes in the sky would improve the efficiency of the referee crew. The booth ref just buzzes down to the lead ref to notify of the penalty. Having all referees on the field is not the best design for assuring a complete legal game. Maybe back in the 50's & the 60's it was, but where is the systematic improvement that every business never stops working on decade in and decade out. Not football. No sir. No how. Sure they added replay review, but do you think the games are any better judged than before replay review. Absolutely not. Replay review was just a quick pill for the fans to take, and feel like games will not contain anymore bad or missed calls by officials on the field.

Now, based on the not-so-hidden agendas by conferences(NCAA), this is why they are in no hurry to improve the system that doesn't assure a complete legal game. If they did improve the system, then how would conferences have any influence to assure those mega pay days by getting the highly ranked and/or undefeated teams into the BCS. They wouldn't and couldn't, so the referee system for football keeps sniffing and licking their own butts.
