Why don't we ever attempt to block punts?

corso just said that texas has had 43 blocked punts since 2002

how many do we have in that time? 5 maybe?

I call bullshite. That's an outrageous number. Maybe "kicks," not just punts, but that still seems like a shite ton.

true...even during the lavalais years when our defenses would flat out scare opponents, we seldom tried to block punts....

trouble with attempting to block punts is, at best your returner gets to fair catch for no return....leave a returner all alone back there and some pretty nasty things can happen....

I don't care if LSU goes after punts or not, but you bring up a pet peeve of mine indirectly. IF you don't try to block punts, use twin safeties like everyone used to use. I guess you lose one player off one of the "gunners" but the decision making of the punt returner is much better because the other guy is going to yell "don't you dare catch that punt...you are at the 3 yard line." And if the punt returner fumbles you have someone back there to recover the ball.
