re: Why We HAVE to Play JL and RS Very Soon at QB

Also, just a question? Why the hell do they put JJ under center and then he takes the snap, and turns his back to the defense and runs so far back for?
1. no pocket in the world is that big
2. gives the defense too much time to react and recover
3. JJ almost ALWAYS receives a rude awakening when he finally turns to face down field.
This^^^^ and JJ running the option should NEVER again be utilized.

If our offense goes to a true spread offense keep JJ.
If we do ANY play action passes off of chuck the truck JL must be the quarterback.
This.
Our O Line blocking is ideal for a guy who uses the pocket. And yes they are creating a pocket.
So, w/ this offense need to play JL.
If sticking w/ JJ, need to commit to the spread. He ran it in High School and thrives in it.
What's going on now is not fair to either one of these guys.

There are intermediate routes. JJ refuses to throw that route.
On the 3rd and 4th down sacks we didn't have one receiver any closer than 20 yds. Some of them were still running down field when he got sacked.

Be a man and stand your ground. Don't let these pansies make you crawfish on your words and rethink your statement. I don't agree with what you put about playing Lee because he would DEFINETLY freak out and just start chunkin the ball anywhere this year behind this poor blocking line. But dude come on don't ever let someone change your thoughts on something.

Go to 1:36 and watch these back to back sacks. Maybe there isn't a "defined" pocket, but there is room to step-up
In the first sack Brandon Spikes was spying JJ daring him to step up so no on that one. The second was just plain brutal. The entire "pocket" collapses in 1 second. Not a good video to back this argument.

I definitely agree about the option. He does not have a clue how to run the option.

That doesn't change the fact that it was there though. Maybe he wouldn't have been sacked if he stepped into his protection.

We are not talking about just one game, he has been doing this all year. HE DOES NOT STEP UP INTO THE POCKET WHEN IT IS NECESSARY.

How is Brandon Spikes being in the hole translate to JJ being able to step into his protection? I think some of you people are either retarded are just arguing for the sake of arguing.

You said there was no pocket, then said there was one. How am I retarded?

You know absolutely zilch about football. Spikes is spying him and Hebert gets beat, but there is plenty of room to step-up. Spikes is 20 yards from JJ. Once he plants his back foot he immediately should begin to move forward.
The second sack the ends just run around both tackles. No tackle on earth can block a DE that just has to run around you.
Like I said...there really wasn't a "defined" pocket, but most of the blame for those sacks are squarely on JJ. He has tunnel vision and can't move in the pocket or progress from one receiver to another.
Most pre-snap reads tell you a lot about where you need to go with the ball. JJ just doesn't get it. I would venture to guess that JJ can't recognize zone or man in the pre-snap. This is the reason why he almost never throws the deep ball.

The fricking video doesn't even show 20yds down field. Spikes is about 3 steps from the line of scrimmage and T-Bob got blown the frick up.

The second sack was worst. The entire line got pushed into the backfield. There's no way you honestly think he could've stepped up there.

You just described about 90% of COLLEGE QBS. Hell, some NFL ones for that matter.

Now everyone on the rant is an expert at pre-snap reads? Holy frick... I've just about heard it all. Put the PS3 controller down my man.

People can change my mind if they are making good points and are right. They were. It was an overstatement to say that JJ was done. He can and probably will bounce back. But, for right now, he looks scared to death. That is no way to play QB. So, I stand by the essence of my original post, but saying that JJ is done was overkill. He can get better. But, I don't see it happening before Alabama if we just keep doing what we've been doing. Heck, we might not beat Auburn if we can't score in the 20's and this offense is regressing, not getting better.

Since you replied to me, I'm going to assume you agree with me. If not, not sure what's different about keeping JJ in there.

What's funny?
Some people just don't understand.
I'll get laughed at, but I played QB in high school and actually watched plenty of JJ in high school. He is doing what he did there. He had a great high school receiver in Tim Molton that he could rely on. He sat in the shotgun and could just throw the ball up and let Molton go get it. He never played anyone that challenged him defensively.
He obviously has some tools, but is extremely raw. Lee isn't much better, but he does give this offense a chance to move the ball and keep defenses honest.

There are people that actually have played organized football. Maybe not SEC caliber, but do understand how to read a defense and what JJ can do better.

We can agree to disagree on that one. But Spikes is spying the run he is no position to prevent JJ from stepping up in the pocket. You can even make the argument that JJ doesn't even know he's there.

Well, the Tiger fan base is getting pretty upset about the offensive production...and both Miles and Crowton, are feeling the heat. They damn well don't wont to go into the off season, with four loses.
That said, I must believe that they realize that there is going to have to be a drastic change. Personally, I don't think JL can stand the heat of the collapsing pocket; to bring him in now - in the teeth of the season - would be unfair to him. I cant help but think that Shepard can help. If that guy could take an option pitch and get to the outside...with the option to run or pass...how in the hell could a D deal with that threat. No thinking on the part of the young man, just insticnt...using his abundant God-given talents.
Book it...Miles/Crowton know that the status quo wont cut it. We can expect to see some open field stuff, in the next game.
And...Obama aint a Marxist
