Thanks but no thanks on your definition of attacking. My definition is causing turnovers which right now I believe is up to 11 or 12. LSU is +7 in turnover margin, near the top of the entire nation. Attacking just for the sake of throwing a bunch of players at the LOS is useless. What counts is how many points are scored and how many extra possessions you give the offense via turnovers. Chavis grade -- A+

We had 4 turnovers against MSU and I think 2 against ULL. We got only 1 turnover in the UGA game and that was when the game was pretty much game, set, match to LSU. When I said attacking defense I don't mean just "throwing" people at the line of scrimmage. I see it as seeing a weakness in the offense and blitzing there. Not sitting back and waiting for the offense to do their play. I don't think we should blitz every play though. We have to stay disciplined.
I am not criticizing the defense, but just saying that we have to generate some better pressure on the QBs in passing situations. Overall, the defense has played well. They can play better and they are improving. B+

I think what has been forgotten in this thread is that, except for the td drive, which should have been negated had the ref called the penalty, Fla.s drives were sustained by penalties.
Alem has been lining up that way all season yet only in this game were the penalties called. The Fla. center moving his head just before the snap which was finally called in the 2nd half-why not from the start of the game?
I'm not saying that the refs cost us the game. Certainly the facemask penalty that kept alive a scoring drive helped and was warranted. My point is that their keeping the ball so long might not have occured had certain events outside of the d's play helped them along.
On the other hand, they can't do a damn thing with the ball if they don't have it.
