this is in no way the defenses fault.. if anything, its the other way around.. if the offense can do anything at all, it picks up first downs, which get you more plays.. instead, its running 4-6 plays a drive and giving it right back to the UF offense..

Agreed. Florida had one more possession. LSU's offense simply sustained only one drive in the game, hence the huge gap in the number of plays. Little things could have made a difference. They just didn't make plays. For instance, Trindon Holliday runs a quick stop and go route, defensive back on an island missed the tackle leaving nothing but green in front of Trindon. But he forgot to secure the ball, incomplete pass. Granted, there were not many such opportunities but you get the point. Championship teams make the most of each opportunity given. The asinine penalties, poor pocket presence, mediocre blocking,questionable play-calling etc. just can't happen if you're going to pull the upset. Let's face it, this far into the season those things should not be happening when you have above-average talent. Furthermore, leaving some of the more-talented players on the bench while you continually shoot blanks offensively is beyond reason to me.
