I've been thinking lately of our poor offensive production, and I have come to the conclusion that it may not be 100% the offense and coaches fault. Yes, I know that 109th in the NCAA is absolutely terrible (especially with our talent), but I heard a stat from the game Saturday that said we only had 47 offensive plays.

The defense has played very good since the Washington game. They held a great team in Florida to 13 pts which is awesome, but it seems we have this bend but don't break attitude to our defense. I guess this is Chavis's philosophy. I'm not sure, but when teams can sustain drives for a long period of time our offense isn't going to have as many opportunities. This may have been a reason why Russell Shepard did not play in the game Saturday. I still think he should have had a few snaps even though we only had 47 plays.
I would like to see a little more aggressiveness so that we can have more 3 and outs and force a few more turnovers.

With that said I am very happy with the scoring defense. I am very dissatisfied with the offensive management by the coaches and players. Maybe it is just the offense's fault by not sustaining drives that we only had 47 plays. It could be the mixture of the defense and offense. Maybe a lack of big plays in special teams. I don't know for sure.

We should scrap the no huddle BS and start trying to make plays instead of afraid of making a mistake (JJ holding on to ball and getting sacked).

Lets step it up against the Barn this next week and lets support the team no matter how difficult it gets this season.

it is all related.

Our defense is much better than last year, but not yet on par with the elite defenses in the league (BAMA and FLA).

this is in no way the defenses fault.. if anything, its the other way around.. if the offense can do anything at all, it picks up first downs, which get you more plays.. instead, its running 4-6 plays a drive and giving it right back to the UF offense..

Football is the ultimate team sport. A good defense will get the ball to the offense often and typically with pretty good field possession. Likewise, a good offense will convert on third down and sustain some drives and give the defense some rest.

Chavis has a read and react. I am willing to give it a year, but if it doesn't get better next year, back to square one. We need an attacking style defense, not Lou Tepper 101.

I think it is both- defense could get off the field quicker and the offense needs to keep the ball longer, which would obviously sway TOP in our favor. We currently have the ball less than our opponents.
