Heck, even with Lee last year we still averaged 30 ppg!

Lee was not afraid to throw the ball (big obvious there), hence points scored. JJ is afraid to throw, hence lower production. Crowton is playing into it by not demanding his QB throw it. This QB coddling has got to stop. If JJ can't sling it then let J. Lee bring it!

maybe he is a good interviewer. Hell, Dave Wandstadt and Norv Turner and wade Phillips keep getting opportunities in the pro's and they suck too

If I were a defensive player I'd take Offense to your statement.

Hey Geauxtiger if we were #9 in the ncaa in offense INSTEAD OF 109 no one would be calling for GC' head.

Actually, the offense scored 24, 23, 31, 17, 20, 3. You are forgetting 20 pts. scored by 2 pix-6s and a punt return. That comes out to a whopping 19.6 a game and 13.3 in the last 3.

Given the amount of talent on this LSU squad, they should statistically be successful 55-60% of their plays. Instead they are about 15% successful which drops them into the bottom group of production.

There is only 1 explanation for this "anomaly": the defense already knows what LSU is running, WHO is getting the ball, and WHERE they are going. PERIOD.

If LSU wants to blow Auburn out, real simple: Set up in the same formations, run different plays to different players.

AND, I'd love to see some fly routes to Holliday! Not sure why they've never even tried it.

This article obviously quite biased

Few points...not a lot of time but here is some

- OREGON - when he arrived they only averaged 24/game, when he left 29/game.. but he f'd them up by scoring 34/game in year 2.. really??

- BYU - held scoreless vs a ranked Utah team?.. yeah.. the game was 3-0.. BYU had losing record.. Utah ranked in the top 25

Nope. The work has been done for you, just read the thread.

Oregon before Crowton as OC
2004 5-6 (W-L)
37th ranked 397.00 ypg
55th ranked 25.64 ppg

Oregon with Crowton as OC
2005 10-1 (W-L)
18th ranked: 438.83 ypg
12th ranked: 37.64 ppg

2006 7-6 (W-L)
9th ranked: 422.85 ypg
25th ranked: 29.46 ppg

Oregon With Chip Kelly as OC
2007 9-4 (W-L)
10th ranked: 467.54 ypg
12th ranked: 38.15 ppg

2008 10-3 (W-L)
7th ranked: 484.85 ypg
15th ranked: 41.92 ppg

Don't believe me? Check for yourself.

Ain't it funny how Urban Meyer just keeps beating him. Oh, BTW, BYU had three straight losing seasons after year 1.

2001 12-1 (W-L)
1st ranked 542.85 YPG
1st ranked 46.77 PPG

2002 5-7 (W-L)
50th ranked 381.83 YPG
87th ranked 22.67 PPG

2003 4-8 (W-L)
102 ranked 314.58 YPG
109 ranked 16.33 PPG

2004 5-6 (W-L)
48th ranked 382.73 YPG
69th ranked 24.27 PPG

Any more doubters?

It's not that the numbers are bad, they just get worse with time. First year, GC get's the offense going, then it's down hill. He get's replaced, then the numbers go back up. For the most part, the trend applies not only to PPG and YPG, but to W-L records too.

Only at LA Tech did the trend described in the OP change.

It's no special talent that I possess; anyone can post the stats. It's time for other posters to start doing some of their own homework. I'm tired of looking at that spreadsheet.

I posted the link to the NCAA stats database. Look at 2001-2004 to see the BYU stats, 2005-2006 for Oregon, and 2007-2009 for LSU. The stats only go back to 1999. For LA Tech, we need the stats from 1996-1998.

So we are talking about LA tech, Oregon & BYU (at the time the article was written, forget the NFL, that is a different beast unless you want to concede fact Saban sucks because he failed in the NFL)

La Tech - numbers were good

Oregon - came in averaging 25/game and 37th in yards.. leaves them with 30/ game and 9th in yards .. but the guy who follows builds on this and it is held against him because his 1st year was better than his 2nd.. that is bogus

BYU - he was head coach, how can you just pull offensive numbers and not defensive numbers to make any kind of argument.. unless of course you are a BYU fan and dont care about anything except scoring, the guy who wrote the article was pissed because they lost by 3 to a top 25 ranked UT team, they held UT to their lowest score of the year by 14 pts, but BYU fans could care less about defenses.. and the HI game he refers to they scored 45 & still lost so what gives.. he is a BYU fan that wrote it... really no comparison.
