I agree with you and called for it when we eventually punted.
I see the possible downside of needing the FG for a tie, instead of a win, but I would have taken the safety, too.
I also was hoping we would have let them walk in from the 1 on 2nd down to reserve some time to come back, and we see how that turned out.
But, overall, our clock management has been about as reliable as our special teams coaching. We should consider donating our ST coach's salary to ACORN, it would be more productive there.
Punter recovers botched snap at the 1, and had already mishandled a prior snap on an extra point. You would think a mishandled snap might be fresh on his mind punting in front of his own goal line. He was lost.
We short kick on a sloppy field, when field position is at a premium.
We attempt a punt block with 3 minutes left in the half in a situation where we should go into halftime with the lead. We NEVER go for the block at any other time.
We field punts inside the 10.
In short, our six million dollars for this staff is not well spent, IMO. We could do worse, but for a lot less.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

+1
I said at the time...he should have picked that ball up, done an immediate about-face, and thrown a tight spiral right thru the back of the end zone, rather than falling on it at the one.
