JEFFERSON - Statistics as a starter...... Very impressive

He's only started 6 games but his stats are very strong, especially for the few games he has started. His first start was at ARKANSAS last year where he was 9 for 21 passing with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. The second game was his MVP game in the Peach bowl. In that game he went 16 for 25 with one touchdown and no interceptions.
These are his passing stats for this year.
TOUCHDOWNS - 7
INTERCEPTIONS - 1
TOTAL PASSING YARDS - 708
PASSING PERCENTAGE - 61.4
What else do we want as Tiger fans? Jefferson is not the problem. As a starter he has thrown for 10 touchdowns and one interception. I'm not even going to mention his running plays and how he escapes trouble "most of the time". Sure he has a lot more to learn but he is exactly what this team needs.... a smart leader who does whatever it takes to win. Call out the O-line. Call out the coaches. Call out anyone you like but don't call out Jefferson. He is exactly the type of quarterback that LSU needs at this time. He doesn't have to win the game as long as he doesn't lose the game.

But the sad reality is, the time has come when he will be called on to win several games.
We almost had to see it against Miss St, but a goal line stand saved us.

You really have no clue do you?

he had a great game against msu.
JJ will come through, he never lost a game at qb in highschool.

Jefferson is doing just fine. Dude has no run support and no offensive line and has only thrown ONE f'ing interception.
Fix the OL and get a run game. JJ IS NOT THE PROBLEM!

JJ has room for improvement, but he is defintley not the problem on offense. Anytime the offensive line is playing shitty, it makes the rest of the offense look shitty. If anything, Jefferson has done a great job considering the line hasn't been able to blok very well for him.

Am I to understand that you think JJ would have marched us down the field, had Miss St punched in the late TD?

JJ is a winner and yes he could have marched us down the feild to win the game, and may in the future.

Its funny how the "qb controversy" that was on the rant last week has subsided....i wonder if we pound the rock next week and beat uga if the calling out of the coaching staff will subside as well

It subsided because of people like me who stand up for people like J.J. and speak the truth. Facts don't ever lie, but they can be perceived differently by different people.

Or it subsided because people found something completely new to bitch about.

Hey im right there with you raparoot. I defended the kid all last week from the irrational posters on here.

I really don't think that anyone was bitching about the QB job that JJ has down this season other than a couple of knuckleheads. For a guy that has only started 5 games I really don't think you could ask for much more from him.

No. I wouldn't expect you to believe in anything less than your own idiotic doubts.

Yes and no... JJ is doing fine, but because of his lack of experience there are just some things he can't do. And the coaches aren't asking him to do them (yet). That makes up run a bunch. And the teams we've played have known this, so they've stacked the box on us, making our OL look worse than they are. In addition, we've been doing most of our passing in obvious passing situations (after the run gets stuffed), and that makes it tougher on the OL as well. In addition, we have a new center calling out the blocking assignments, and because of this teams have been shifting players around a lot more.
In the stretch to come, we can't afford to run when they stack the box anymore. So they will really have to turn JJ loose. Let's hope he excels!

Stats don't tell the whole story. He's still young and inexperienced, and his touch on the deep ball, as well as timing on the short passes is not there yet.
I'm not hating on JJ. I think he'll continue to improve and get better, and I think he will be a great qb at LSU. But, I think that better secondaries (like we will play later in the season) will make you pay for timing passes that are 1-2 seconds late.
I hope he gets better fast enough.

JJ is the man. I been saying that JJ will make us proud

Like he has done in the 4th quarter at least in two separate games this year (Wash & Vandy)? Well, ah yes!
Posted on 9/27/09 at 8:39 pm to Raparooot
the problem is that he is gaining these stats with 5 yard passes, and dinks and dumps, i would love to see how many of those yards are yards after the catch, i would say easily 70% of them
not saying he is bad, but its the play calling that is giving him these stats, and game breaking wide receivers we have

He threw deeper passes in the last game, the one that supposedly means that we suck.
