I think it's a generational thing - more specifically an "Internet Generational" thing...

(some of this may seem like I'm rehashing original post, but it is to a specific end)

There are a lot of people out there who were raised on LSU football -

Faction #2 has seen "the best of times, the worst of times" for LSU football. They are a bit more pragmatic and tend to complain more about football-related things than the product on the field - Ticket prices, stands looking empty, etc... While many are internet savvy, their opinions do not seem as regurgitated (or angry for that matter). There is a sense that their "Tiger Pride" was earned, not bestowed...

Faction #1 - has seen only "the best of times" and their version of "tradition" is one of domination and winning. If asked to discuss a season prior to 2007 - they would probably start with a bowl game (this likelihood increases the farther back you go). If anybody ever tried to instill any appreciation for how far things have come over the last 20-30 years, it didn't stick. There is always a percentage of individuals who are "wise beyond their years" and there are many LSU fans who have transcended their Faction #2 status - for y'all - . The rest I see in that "my dad can beat up your dad" mold... Having accomplished little (or comparatively little) of their own in their lives (yet). They have talked too much smack when LSU was collecting crystal balls and are lashing out now like a bunch of grounded pre-teens.

Faction #1 represents the team. Faction #2 somehow thinks the team represents them.

I can understand your points, but I dont think most of the "younger crowd" is spoiled with our recent history. I am a college student and love LSU. I am not a basher and I understand LSU football history. Granted I wasnt there to see it, but that doesnt mean I dont know how far we have come/fallen whatever. Some of the older crowd makes me mad with their "we saw everything and you didnt" attitude. Just because I wasnt there to see it, doesnt mean I dont know or understand about it.
