I think the people who first started to follow LSU football from somewhere between 1998 and 2004 would fall into this faction.

I don't think it's so much generational, as much as it is people coming to really dive into the minutiae of the LSU football program at a time when Saban looked like the end-all and be-all of college football.

People who started following LSU football closely at different times have a different perspective. For example, they might understand that what DiNardo accomplished from '95 to '97 was every bit as phenomenal as what Saban accomplished in '01 and '03, and that what Miles accomplished in '05 and '07 was also way outside of ordinary.

If you don't have an appreciation for McClendon & Arnsparger & DiNardo, then it's pretty hard to understand the wider context of LSU football today as it relates to Saban and Miles. Of course, the other side will just say that everything has changed now, and that CFB is a new world and all that.

Some of it may be related to the "internet generation." Negativism spreads like wildfire, and sensationalism or extremism (both to the positive and negative, though negative moreso) garners the most attention.
