Going from NCAA mindset to Madden

Well, i bought madden yesterday. Starting to like it. However, i'm in the NCAA mentality when it comes to managing my team. NCAA i would just recruit the best players, and by my second year of dynasty, i would be stacked with backups.
I have learned that Madden does not have a mass substitution option.
SO, in madden, i decided to sign a 78 ovr DT and cut a 59 ovr DT and a 60 ovr SS. well, the 78 ovr put a strain on my salary cap and the computer autmatically picked up a center for too much money and a CB for too much money. I'm on week 4 and now have to start over because i don't use my backups.
Backups are worthless, and should only be thought of as worst case (injuries) unless you're talking WR and RB's.
This is frustrating,

don't start over, just think of it as the owner of the team decided he wanted to buy a CB and Center and now you have to deal with it. just like whoever is coaching the cowboys....

i dont understand why is there no mass substitution..
you can still substitute players in and out from the playcall screen right? i would always interchange my running backs this way back when i played on madden 09.. i like to keep em fresh and keep the gameplay realistic.

Yeah, well i'm over my salary cap by $4 mil. Does that mean i'm going to start out next season with -$4 mil??? I'm not clear on how the whole financials thing works on here. Say if i had +$10 mil left to my cap, what does that do to my finances. Does that mean i only have $10 mil to play with, or that i have $10 mil, plus whatever is leftover after my players with 1 year on contract left gives me?

Its a slow paced, bout 1 league game per week with possibly playing the computer. Still plenty of good teams out there...Pats, Steelers, Eagles, SAINTS !

Current Rosters. No deadline. I'm sure we will never have 32 players but would like to get as many in as soon as possible.
