Gus Malzhan was coaching high school football just a few years ago.

Crowton accomplishments are a lot more impressive.

what does this have to do with anything?

On topic though, I don't think our offense would look all that different, it would just be different formations for Miles to handcuff.

What does him coaching HS a few years ago have to do with anything? Absolutely nothing. Everywhere he has coached on this level, his offenses have been very sucessful.

No, Crowton's job resume is. That doesn't mean he's better.

Mike Leach never played college football, yet he could run an NFL team if he had to.

Gus may have been coaching high school 4 years ago and might have been a total accident to begin with...had Broyles, Nutt, and boosters not been so fricking gung ho greedy about needing a player like Mitch Mustain on their team, Gus would have never even been offered to begin with. It's amusing that Gus is now at Auburn because Casey Dick was a more effective qb than a 5 star second coming who can't buy a start at a Pac 10 school that has more Qb troubles than ever.

Gus should get a ton of credit. You think 2006 Arkansas was all about Houston Nutt and his philosophies? Nutt would have driven that team into the Indy Bowl ground. Then, Nutt and Broyles and David Lee make Gus head to an irrelevant powerhouse in Tulsa, thinking this was the end of the rope for a guy who was only lured to college to bring his stud high school players with him. No one figured that Tommy Tubberville would be bought out at Auburn by one booster and that Gene Chizdick would even sniff a job interview. If he did and if he got hired, why would Gene hire a guy like GM to a big time SEC program when he was coaching 16 year olds just 3 year prior?

I don't know who we have to thank for Auburn becoming a ressurgent program again (and remaining on par for the most part with Bama) and coming out of nowhere. I don't know who is to thank for giving us another reason to think that winning the west is slim. Frank Broyles? Mitch Mustain? The greedy Auburn alum who threw down the money to buy out TT? Pete Carroll? Steve Kragthorpe? Whoever it is, it doesn't matter. GM is making Auburn into an offensive machine. The whole "they haven't played anyone" excuse is played. We haven't real;y, either and we're not putting up 500 yards plus of total offense per game.

So, if Crowton wants to be seen as the true wizard, then why is he not putting up 500 yards of offense with a much more talented team? We are far superior to Auburn in talent and they Plainsmen will even tell us that. I love LSU and will always support this team as I always have, but I call into question a guy like Crowton. I always laughed at the Oregon fans who said, "Thanks LSU! You did us a favor!" but now I really wonder. Along with the vanilla argument, we can sy we have a qb qho's just not ready to open it up...an O line that causes us to get rid of the ball quicker. Hell, I really don't know. Gary has NFL and major college experience at LA Tech, BYU, Oregon, LSI, etc. and Gus has high school and Arkansas, Tulsa, and now 4 games with AU. Still, who is making the most noise right now with less?
