I continue to be extremely disappointed at the progressive decline in fan support/loudness/enthusiasm at our games. I felt this way last year, but last night was a new low. I understand it was raining, but as some other posts referenced, Oregon St. in 04 didn't disappoint, and that was a far wetter game.

I really think Tiger Stadium is now living on some lore that is no longer there. I have been to Bama, Auburn, Florida in the last couple years, and we are behind them right now for sure. It's just really disappointing to see the lackadaisacal attitude of the fan base. I'm not even going to touch on all the "coaches" in the stands around me spewing nothing but negativity.

I think quotes that have been made about the Golden Age of LSU football in the 90's, may be accurate. I don't settle for mediocrity, and I want to see us continue to excel and set the standard for the SEC in recruiting, championships, and every other aspect of our program. But I am never going to forget going to Tiger Stadium as a junior high kid, college student, (notice I left our high school - Curley's years!) and even a few years ago when the place would just go absolutely crazy for our Tigers. I'll continue to support, cheer, and be vocal at games to try to make TS live up to the hype and standard we have set for ourselves.

Come on people, we can do so much better!

I think you can blame TAF and the ticket office for all that was stated above and also for the number of fans that left at halftime due to the elements. I am a fan of raising money for the athletic department, but unfortunately the rising cost of bringing your family to an LSU game has filtered out many of the hard working fans who wouldn't be bothered by a little bit of rain. What it's left us with are a much higher percentage of fans who attend the games as a status symbol and as an opportunity to socialize with their friends. They won't stick it out in the rain, because their wives and sometimes the men spent hours and hours getting ready and wouldn't want their hair messed up by jumping up and down in some light rain.

I definitely think the atmosphere of TS has changed, but not the enthusiasm of the fanbase...just the type of fanbase in the game.

it's not the fans fault, it's TAFs. They've changed the type of 'fans' that go to the games. Unless we are playing Alabama or Florida the stadium will look like that every week.

Pffffffft- at this point, there is NO game safe from certain members of our "fanbase" making their way to the exits at halftime. Doesn't matter who is in Tiger Stadium. Vandy is a team that won a bowl game last year, an SEC team and that was our home opener, and yet certain members of our "fanbase" decided they had seen enough and heaven forbid they get a little wet at a football game.

The original post is well written. The reply correlating "hard working fans" not attending due to ticket prices is absolutely idiotic. Saturdays in Baton Rouge are far from a blue blood event. The crap music consistently played throughout campus is evidence of my point.

LSU fans are extremely fickle. Let's face it Miles does not have the same charisma as his predecessor. Saban used the bully pulpit to generate the crowd effect we all aspire for Tiger stadium. I like Coach Miles, but he is not revered as greatly by LSU fans as they revered Saban and his teams.

This is not a Saban vs. Miles post. Saban is gone. I am simply giving a possible answer to the original post.

And I'm just saying as a guy that used to go to every game, stand up WITH the people around me and cheer on the Tigers........ I know go, people show up late, ask me to sit down so they can see, and then leave 30 minutes later. The fan base has changed drastically. That's not an opinion my friend, that's a fact!

TS was intimidating long before Nick Saban became coach.

Why? Home opener last night...SEC game...and the fans sucked. True fans should bring it every game.

Agreed, it just saddens me, I love everything that Tiger Stadium was about, it really kind of dampens the spirit you have for LSU Football in general,
it's sad to say, but some of the more fun games now are road trips, because you have the true fans. So I agree that it not because of it being all blue bloods, you have to have a little money to go on road trips

Playing devils advocate do you think something has to do with the type of football LSU plays now? I am not saying I agree with this but just pointing out a possible reason. People, as you have said, don't get behind Miles teams like they did Saban. Not sure why maybe because Miles teams underachive more than Sabans teams. Don't kill the messenger just asking the question.

I would agree. It has become a social atmosphere type of event. I'm ok with socializing, but when you get in Tiger Stadium you got to be LOUD! Most are going because its the happening thing to do, not because they're fans.
