I know the performance of the players is all that really matters, but the atmosphere on campus is the most positive I've ever seen it for all sports; it does not even compare to last season. I hope we are prepared for Vanderbilt to treat this Saturday as their bowl game, just as Washington did, because it is the perfect opportunity for Vandy to catapult themselves into the middle-tier of the SEC, at least as far as expectations are concerned.

Bet that pisses off their baseball team.

Most teams and fans (except LSU) get excited when they are One and Oh after the first game. Then reality hits. Vandy will be lucky to go to a bowl again this year but heah, at least their players are smarter than most.

The middle tier of the SEC would be great for Vanderbilt, considering they have won 1 bowl game in the past 25 years.

It's the infamous mirage..........you watch a team play its 1st game on the road 2500 miles away.........and instantly you expect the same results throughout the season.......

Glad Vandy gets to see the sun come down Saturday night in an SEC opener.

If my team posted a shut-out and the team that I play the next week played bad the previous week, I'd be confident as well.

vandy's big problem is that their offense is not likely to be able to hang onto the football like Washington did. They will be turning it over to our offense. Hopefully, our coaching staff will be aware that VAndy will be challenging the run (as Coach Miles admitted) since they don't expect us to let JJ air it out, and in fact, we will let him air it out if they put 7-8 men in the box.

Guys putting different schools emblems on their posting and then expecting others to have ESP and know who they support boggles my mind. Sometimes its legitimate with some going to grad school etc but there a number of numbnuts who use other schools and then act surprised when other posters think they are for that school.

That's what I was thinking.

For the people flipping out about it... what are you, 14?

I for one would never choose a school just because I'm a fan of that team. I'm a Tennessee fan and if I was choosing between the two solely based on academics, I'd choose Vanderbilt. I would never cheer for Vandy over Tennessee in sports though. Anyone who would choose a school just because they are a fan of the team is the stupid one.

You missed the point. No one is saying you can't support another team.
