Why pick 2005 to date?

Because that's when Les got here idiot.

The point is that Pete has lost games he should have won, especially considering he had an open invitation the BCS championship in 4 years that he blew by losing to clearly inferior teams in what is clearly an easier conference.

I'm about to educate you.

How about since 2003, the time of the split title?

2003:

USC - Cal
LSU - UF

2004:

USC - none
LSU - Iowa

2005:

USC - none
LSU - Tennessee

2006:

USC - UCLA
LSU - none

2007:

USC - Stanford
LSU - UK, Ark

2008:

USC - Oregon State
LSU - Arkansas

And I think the SEC is tougher than the Pac-10 too, but USC has absolutely RAPED every SEC team they have played recently. Meanwhile, LSU has struggled with three middle of the road Pac-10 teams outside of shitty arse Arizona.

Pete is so much better of a coach that it's not even funny. USC has two bad losses in recent memory, and that's UCLA 06 and Stanford 07. Teams like Cal 03, Oregon St 06, Oregon 07, and even Oregon St 08 weren't bad teams.

Of course that is why you picked 2005, but you should look at the total time that Pete has been at USC, not just frpm 2005. And again, the point is that he has lost 4 open invitations to the BCS championships.

Arizona State was actually a pretty good team in 2005 until they lost their starting QB. LSU struggled in case you had forgotten in that game because of Katrina and brand new DC. Perhaps you also forgot that USC only beat ASU 38-28, and definitely didn't blow out ASU in a regularly scheduled game uninterrupted by new coordinators or natural disaster.

Comparing LSU from 2003 is irrelevant because we are talking about coaches not teams. And specifically we are comparing Miles career to Carroll's career at USC, not Saban to Carroll, and not even LSU to USC.

I am not really attacking Carroll, by the way, but simply making the point that even the best coaches lose games that they shouldn't. The nickname was for effect (read sarcasm), not because I don't think he is a great coach.

So your attempt to educate is a failure because you missed the point entirely to begin with, which is that the consensus best coaches in the country lose games that they shouldn't lose and that the same fans that consistently attack Miles, with the best record of any coach in LSU history would be attacking Carroll too, if he "blew" four relatively easy opportunities to get the BCS championship, if he were the LSU coach. I am not suggesting that Carroll is inferior coach to Miles, but that even he would get a lot of criticism from some of the Rant posters.
