JChavis was supposedly the best 3rd down coordinator around. Not yesterday.

You need to get off the field in 95% of these situations. We got off the field in about 15% of these situations. Couple that with our O having multiple 3 and outs -- that what led to them having almost twice the number of plays -- and against 99% of teams, is a recipe for a loss.

Tennessee people called 3rd and long "3rd and Chavis" for a reason.

I live here in Tenn and third and chavis is right need 9 get 54. Chavis has no concept the prevent prevents you from winning. Tigers play DEFENSE not prevent

Think about those 3rd and long's while trying to swallow this shite from Randy Rosetta's column --

quote:

Is there still some pollution left from last season’s debacle and is Saturday the first red flag the Tigers’ decline last year wasn’t a one-season blip?

Perhaps the most curious comment of the late night came from LSU coach Les Miles.

"Our new defensive staff did an outstanding job,” Miles said after Washington carved the defense for 478 yards and 25 first downs. “They got our players in good position to make tackles and they improved as the game went on. A lot of the night, we ran the Tiger defense that I want to see.”

Huh? On a tight deadline when any quote from the coach is coveted, that was one I couldn’t, in good conscience, bring myself to weave into the game story.

Without a doubt, those stats you produced about 3rd and longs converted to 1st downs, are an incredible concern and shed a ton of light on what Tenn fans called 3rd and Chavis. And this was not Florida, Georgia, Bama, or Ole Miss converting these either. This year will be interesting as hell to follow, and many questions could be answered about a lot of things with this Coaching staff, and many might not like the answers!

this defence that we played was the same defence that we played last year, les miles defence, not a JCHAVIS defence, if you have the last years gmes on dvd like I do, you can see that nothing has changed, the defencive ends don't play defensive end, they line up in positions that allow them to be turned in, when this happens, the running backs gain large yardage, and our defencive backs don't defend, they react, thus allowing the recievers to catch the ball and teams like WASHINGTON TO accumalate almost 500 yards, anytime a team wheather it us or the opposing team gains 500 yard, then there is a defensive problem, someone needs coaching

Actually, all the Tennessee fans on ESPN have a saying: "3rd and Chavis"......meaning he would go easy and always allow the other team to get the first down. He's better on 1st & 2nd...

WTF? Chavis sucks on third downs, especially third and longs. When in offense is in a hole on third down, they are will be in great shape to convert against Chavis' defense. Good ole third and Chavis.
