One of the only bright spots on the D last night. IMO he looked great.

Mr Peterson might have something to say about that...

Alem needs to learn to stuff the run. He's strictly "sprint at the QB".

I'd add Downs to the short list.

Drake Nevis was the saving grace on the d-line, but Patrick Peterson was amazing. PP=The Truth

Nevis wasn't the only one. Nevis, PP, Downs, Cutrera, and even Brandon Taylor looked good to me.

Nevis, PP, and Cutrera played extremely well. Alem not so much.

Alem has never gotten out of his "rush linebacker" mentality he had when he was at St Aug. He is a very avg every down defensive end.

I don't understand all the love for Peterson. He did tackle great, but that was usually after his man caught a pass in front of him. Washington must have completed 70% of passes thrown out him.

And the announcer said, " I dont know why they keep trying Patterson" cuz they are catching the ball and moving the chains thats why lol... I agree with you totally.

If Downs can add some weight and keep his speed. He may be the best the school has seen.

No bump, 5-10 yard cushion in man coverage, crossing routes into open zone = receptions

He was money on vertical passes.

poor scheme I agree with, but I don't agree with this:

quote:

but Patrick Peterson was amazing. PP=The Truth

or this

quote:

But peterson was unreal

I assume that was meant as amazing and unreal in a good way.

A few guys on D had good individual games. Woods looked really good even though he was double-teamed the entire game. He looked great in pursuing down the line of scrimmage (looks a lot quicker this year). He missed one tackle in the backfield, but other than that... solid.

Kelvin Sheppard was all over the field. Riley looked good (even in coverage). Jacob Cutrera played the game of his life. Peterson was Peterson. Downs is so quick off the ball, he's just not strong enough yet to be as disruptive as he will in the future.

Taylor looked good in run-support, but he looks lost in coverage. Hawkins actually looked fine when he wasn't being mugged by wide receivers on edge-blocking.

ETA: Basically the ends and safeties looked bad last night. Montgomery is going to have to play if we want to get pressure from an end position. And also, let's just say rushing 3 down-linemen wasn't exactly the best scheme on 3rd and long.
