How did this guy wind up at Stanford? Sleeper? Did we not recruit him?

Played at Loyola in Shreveport. Lightly recruited, probably because of a low competition level.

Thanks, I was watching a preseason game and the said he was from the Port, it's not often LSU misses in state NFL talent, other than Faulk

All those guys chose not to go to LSU though, so they are in a different category.

I suppose you can say that Faulk was offered as well, but it wasn't on offense. In Curley's defense (that feels awkward ), no one else really saw him becoming a superstar on offense either for some reason.

I think he means "misses," like didn't recruit at all. Although, most of the NFL talent from Louisiana that LSU didn't recruit at all has a back-story involving character and/or academic issues.

Edit to add: This was not the case with Alston. Fine, upstanding man with good grades (obviously, he went to Loyola and Stanford.)

He is smart as hell and went to Stanford for the academics. He was badass in high school though. Played just about every position

ETA: Im not sure he was "lightly" recruited, he was pretty highly ranked as a LB in the southeast
