I don't think I would call Alem,Levingston, Woods, Alexander, and Nevis young, maybe not veterans, but they've got a couple of seasons under their belt. As I recall most of this group were 4 stars. They just need good coaching. Maybe the guy was referring to Hicks, Montgomery, Downs or Davenport when he used the term "young".
I still believe coaching was the biggest problem on the D last year. This season should prove out this statement.
We can win some games this year if we limit the opposition to 2 or 3 touchdowns.

Not young in the slightest. Of the five, 2 are JRs and 3 are SRs(including one who's about 30-years-old). And they're pretty experienced, too. They've all played a lot besides Woods. It's the 2nd string that is young and inexperienced.

i dont really know what to make about either Georgia boy really. They're both big and can run well, but sometimes they look good and sometimes they looked like shite. We'll know for sure now that they actually have a LB coach/DC that is not a retard.
I agree with all this but it's fair to say that they were never more than average recruits by upper-tier SEC teams standards... and they have only played "solid" at best with some flashes
I agree Riley is the more complete of the two, although Shepp might have more upside IMO
The thing I like is that Chavis wanted both of them out of Stone Mountain High when he was at Tennessee, so it's encouraging that they are his kind of LBs ..you would figure he'll get their best this year..whatever that can be

The San Francisco 49ers selected defensive tackle Ricky Jean-Francois in the seventh round of the recent draft. The Carolina Panthers signed defensive tackle Marlon Favorite to a free-agent contract, and LSU reserve defensive end Tremaine Johnson signed with the Minnesota Vikings.
Defensive end Kirston Pittman signed a free-agent contract with the St. Louis Rams but was released before training camp started.
no real impact as far as these guys are concerned...

Inexperienced is a better word for our front 4 starters...but from the looks of it our 2-deep may have a couple of true freshmen, as well.

we just don't recruit well there ..Ali was a great undersized college LB, and Darry showed flashes of brilliance as a Soph - then progressively got worse when he ran through some injuries

I said Ali was a good college LB ...Baker might be a college LB ..Mingo will too most likely
ILB is where I have a beef and that is a position we never get a guy who has size and can be a good player in the middle ..like I said, those guys who have that size and could be good wind up being turned into big RBs in Louisiana high school ball, like Scott and Hester, etc
my point is that you can win championships without great players at EVERY position... many teams have done it on many levels ...no team is perfect. But when a program like LSU has not been able to recruit a solid MLB consistently in the last dozen or more years that jumps out at you

D-line recruiting suffered under Dunbar, which is one of the reasons he is no longer here.
