Why is everyone so afraid of Florida? I mean, they are an exceptionally talented team, but really, they are beatable. People act like you should bow down to the almighty Gators and Tim Tebow. I saw in a post earlier of someone saying that the 2008 Florida team would lay another massive beat down on the 2007 LSU national championship team just like the 2008 LSU team. now come on. thats ridiculous.
Just because LSU didn't play its best in last years game and Florida played pretty close to beyond its best, some people treat Florida and Tebow like a freakin god - like no one will beat them. Last year we had the target on our backs and we were the team to beat. Well, this year, I think Florida has one of the biggest targets ive ever seen in my life on their backs. The media freakin loves Florida. ESPN and Chris low will freakin kill you if you don't vote Tebow to the preseason all-SEC team. i think the media will just motivate LSU to play that much harder come October 10th. Just think, last year. We had just beat Auburn and Florida had just gotten beat by Ole Miss. If you would have told me then that we were going to lose by 30 points to Florida, i'm pretty sure i would have lmao. I think it is good that we are kind of flying under the radar right now and no one's really pickin us to win the west. 2003 is kind of similar to this year. both teams werent hyped out a lot and the result in 2003 was really good. Florida, on the other hand, could turn out like last years Georgia. Anyways, all of this is JMO.

The 2007 team would have eaten the Gators of 2008. We are not afraid more like last year with proven players we were unable to do anything against them. It it not fear, it is hope that there wont be a fiasco like last year again. Things on Defense need to get done and we need a QB.

Considering the fact that everyone is telling Florida that LSU is their biggest test of the year, I think its safe to say this "target on our backs" you speak of is bigger than ever.

I more worried that we go to Georgia the week before while they're off and game planning on how to beat us.

There's still no blueprint for how to stop the offense (especially now that they have running backs), and they return the entire 2-deep on defense. The hype is real.

Brah, the same situation happen with LSU 2008 vs 2008 was almost the same thing as the Oct 6 game in 2007. At least for the first half. Remember if colt david not miss all those FG we would have scored alot higher against UF. Sure we squeek by them but we would have done the same.

Remember at half time it was like 20-17. Bo Peleni would have got them energize and ready to play for the second half. We were a stronger second half team in 2007.

well no one is ever gonna shut their O down we can still slow them down by what everyone has been saying to do...blitz. And bring the safties up a little hoping that Tebow will be throwing of his back foot(which most people can't throw far that way) or help cover the screen a bit. Kind of like what Miami did last year, but if they just had legit offense they could have had a chance in that game. But thats just me

As for their defense I don't remember what they were ranked, but I thought they were better than the Bama defense. And since all their starters are returning they could be even better, which really sucks. All I got on this is if Miles just lets Crowton loose. We have the athletes to compete with them, but we just can't make so many retarded mistakes. We'd pretty much have to play a near perfect game to beat them, but atleast we have them in Tiger Stadium.

don't try to act like that game was an aberration. florida whipped basically the entire SEC last season and would have beaten LSU that badly like 8 or 9 out of 10 teams.

Not quite actually. The entire Second Quater, the gator was only able to score three point. LSU offensive line squander their chances over and over again. It wasn't anything difficult. Brandon Lafell drop the ball, Terrance drop the ball. Hell even Charles Scott dropped a hand off Andrew Hatch gave him.

D-byrd was suppose to be a good sprinter so he was covered and getting frustrated, but he dropped balls too.

Then 3rd quater came back and we went right down the field and scored. that shut up alot of gators fans and they were nervous as heck that we would repeat 2007 against them.

however, more miscues on our part and the defense looking lost made us look bad. If we had the QB to let our defense rest, we would have been right in there.

I think JL cracked when Tebow scored a TD and he felt pressure to score one also.

I'm not afraid of Florida.

But seriously though, this year's team has a chance to be one of the best in SEC history.

At least we scored the most points against UF of any team during the 2nd half of the season.

Let's not look past Georgia just yet. I could definitely see a pattern forming.

1998: #1 Draft Pick QB leaves a good team behind.

quote:

Tennessee was expected to have a slight fall off after their conference championship the previous season. They lost QB Peyton Manning, WR's Marcus Nash and Andy McCullough, and LB Leonard Little to the NFL. Manning was the first pick overall in the 1998 NFL Draft. They were also coming off of a 42–17 loss to Nebraska in the Orange Bowl, and were in the midst of a 5 game losing streak to their rivals the Florida Gators. However, the 1998 Tennessee Volunteers football team would prove to exceed all expectation. Led by new quarterback Tee Martin, All American linebacker Al Wilson, and Peerless Price, the Vols captured another National title and would win the first ever BCS Title game against Florida State.

2007 #1 Draft Pick QB Leaves a good team behind

quote:

Last season, LSU had four first-round selections -- quarterback JaMarcus Russell (1st overall, Oakland), safety LaRon Landry (6th overall, Washington), and wide receivers Dwayne Bowe (23rd overall, Kansas City) and Craig Davis (30th overall, San Diego).
