LSU financial problems.....

Just putting this out there. Since LSU has said to have financial troubles, why don't they consider selling the name rights of Tiger Stadium? I figured they could sign a two or three year contract with somebody. I would hate this to happen but I just want to see what everyone thinks.

Trust me, the LSU Athletic Department is not having financial troubles.

I know that but the University is.....

I took financial issues in sports this last semester. An assistant that does the marketing for LSU came in. LSU athletics supports itself. Including scholarships and everything and the athletic department gave the school 1M last year or the year before.
edit: thought u were talking about athletics

If this happened I would be very, very pissed. I could only imagine "welcome to McDonald's Tiger Stadium."

Stanford Group Tiger Stadium has lost some of its luster.

What about Cane's Chicken Tiger Stadium. I'm sure they could pony up some cash. And it has a nice ring to it.

Well if it would happen it need to be named after a former a.d., coach, governor, or booster
i.e.
J. Stanley "Skip" Bertman Field
or
Huey P. Long Field

we actually talked about this in my sports marketing class ... fans would be peeved ... forgetting the fans is a big reason sponsorships fail.

This would be a bit like unprotected sex with a drug-addicted prostitute. It might feel good at the time, but you'll regret it forever.

UT did it with their baseball field. I wouldn't be a fan of LSU doing it with Tiger Stadium.

I heard Hugh Heffner is interested in sponsoring a football team...Playboy Stadium?
All fans get free after-game tickets to the mansion...

If they renamed the Stadium, who cares.

I would hate any change but this would be the less pissing off. It will never happen. Hopefully the uniform changes are done too

I'm 100% against them re-naming Tiger Stadium unless the company is "Death Valley _______".

While we're selling out our tradition, why don't they just sell the band while they're at it? They could have corporate logos and play corporate jingles instead of what they do now.
