I've been boycotting them for a while now after i had a blow up with the manager when they screwed me and refused to pay for the their mistake.

Went last night to the one by my house on highland though.

Got the chargrilled black drum special topped with crabmeat, green onions, and mushrooms with a light garlic white wine butter sauce. I was throroughly impressed...it was the best meal I've ever had there. While I think the food is largely overrated, with a few really well done things... it was a great dish for 18 bucks. It was covered with fresh lump crabmeat and there were about 3 nice size filets of fish.

G/f got the other special, mahi mahi with a mango salsa... it was so bland. This is why it is a glorified bar b/c even the specials are sometimes crap and inconsistent. However mine kicked arse.

I won't return to being a regular there anymore, but it won a spot back in the rotation for now.

so your entree was the best thing you ever ate there, and your gf's entree was bland. so therefore you are boycotting them?

maybe you shouldn't eat at any restaurants for a while

I noticed they started printing specials menus last night... which they didn't used to do. But I had a blunt discussion with one of the managers the last time I went, a long time ago.

Their fish special that day was described as some fish topped with a crab mornay sauce. However, it was not listed as optional and they never gave the price. I didn't finish it b/c it was pretty bad and oversalted. Well, when I received the bill... I was charged an extra 8.99 for the crabmeat mornay sauce which made the price nearly 25 or so for a poorly tasting piece of fish. I complained that it was listed on their specials board and described to me as the fish WITH the sauce... not an optional add the sauce for an extra price.

Long story short, it sucked, they wouldn't refund me the money for their mistake... so I said some choice things and left.

you don't know me bitch... I am probably one of the most polite diners there is. But if I eat a shitty meal and am charged an outrageous price for something that wasn't listed as optional then I shouldn't have to pay for it. I didn't eat it and they should have let their customers know that it is an extra 9 bucks for a crab sauce instead of tricking you that it is part of the dish. That's just common sense to me

sounds legit so far

I didn't finish it b/c it was pretty bad and oversalted

it takes me one bite to know if i am going to continue to eat the meal. you should have immediately told your waiter to fix the meal. if the second time they screwed up then i'd talk to a manager. you sound like you don't eat out enough or know what you are doing

quote:

$9 for a sauce! that is outrageous. so outrageous it sounds far fetched

so after paying for it, you then tried to get your money back?

no I meant to say I asked to speak to the manager before I paid once I saw the price listed for the outrageously priced sauce. He said he wouldn't take it off the bill. So I had to pay for it
