Marcus Thornton with the best point guard in the game.

I have not seen much discussion about this here or on other sites but is anyone else excited as hell about this? Marcus Thornton was a steal in the second round by the Heat and when I heard the Hornets got him I was pretty freaking pumped. He has a very quick release and can catch and shoot or create his own shot....Chris Paul finds the open man every time down the floor. Thornton is dangerous on offense and will be a great fit at the 2 for us. I think he has a great shot to be Rookie of the Year if he gets a chance to proove himself early and start. And the best part about all of this is I and many of you get to watch him on CST all season.

how is that possible when we already have the best pg in the nba and yet you mentioned he will play the 2

he's going to be a pretty easy basketball player to root for.

the only problem with him at the 2 spot is he is only 6'4 if that, and the other 2's are pretty damn huge tmac 6'8 kobe 6'6 lebron although he plays whatever he wants 6'8,

marcus thornton isn't gonna have a permanent green light to shoot in his rookie season like he did at lsu. you're not gonna see him jacking up fade away three's with a defender in his face. maybe eventually, but not next year

LeBron plays the 3. But that's the only knock on Thornton is he isn't 6'5+ he's 6'3.5. Not too short to play the 2 but on the extreme end of just acceptable. Ben Gordon is quite the starter at the 2 and is maybe 6'2. Obviously the problem lies in defense, which Thornton really improved upon last year.
If Thornton can play tough defense he should definitely start. We know he can score. Butler would be better as a backup.

Good point. West and Williams for the Cavs also come to mind.

There is a good chance he is a better defender then all the starters except CP. They are trash on defense. And yes Butler would be better served coming off the bench. Also, someone mentioned that he will not have the green light like at LSU. That is obvious but I think he can put up 10-15 points a game as a rookie. That would be huge.

i love thornton, and i wasnt knocking him, but thats what the hornets need is some hard working hustle player that can defend ie a bruce bowen, but i love the pick up thornton def gives us another threat on the perimeter

Hopefully they use him better than they did Bass.

Oh, I misread. Thought it said Marcus will be the best guard in the game
ETA: I think CP3 is but he left some room for debate after the Denver series.

I read Brandon Bass may be resigned. Thorton and Bass, sweet! As for MT having a green light, NOBODY shootts as much as West. He is waaaaay overrated. I hope the Hornets trade him for Stoudamire at Phx. Too bad we couldn't get Shaq.

Bass would probably rather sit out than play under Byron Scott again.

No way Bass goes back to NO and there's no way to trade West for Stat either. The Hornets really aren't too far away from being where they want to be, its just a shame they made too many poor decisions on guys like Peja and Posey and have had unproductive drafts.
