My advice would be to do the internship and do plain old auditing until you are a senior. At that juncture explore any opportunity within your Firm in fields such as forensics etc... they want and you will want the seasoning in audit.
Option 2 is stay in audit to manager and then any firm (not just yours) would be your option into a specialized field.

One of my friends in H-town was telling me horror stories about how he got stuck on a team with a bunch of anti-social types and they got terrible reviews. Felt bad for him.
