ott is a great college closer. Papelbon he is not (even close)
Posted on 6/22/09 at 11:38 pm to crazytigerfan69
He also reminded me of Rick Greene getting those last outs in '91.

Putting him in against Arkansas let him lose the freshman butterflys.

the 5 tools expression is overused big time
but occasionally a player fits it...i think mahtook does

so does J-Mitch.. why he got drafted so high (potential potential potential)...i could see him turning into a Kenny Lofton with more power
Posted on 6/23/09 at 12:28 am to TheNardDog
both j-mitch and mahtook are both big league players..whether or not Mahtook is a 1st rounder like j-mitch..both deff have 5 tools
Posted on 6/23/09 at 12:29 am to baseballguy24
ill be honestly shocked if mahtook doesnt make his way into the first round. dude is a flat out stud
Posted on 6/23/09 at 12:32 am to Ron Mexico
I will admit, I have had a crush on Mahtook all season.

he deff has the potential to be a 1st rounder..but the draft is such a crap shoot u never know what will happen
Posted on 6/23/09 at 12:35 am to TheOtherOne
Mahtook is going to be a stud for this team. I would not be surprised if he has a .400 avg with 20 homeruns next year.
Posted on 6/23/09 at 12:35 am to pimpshiznit
Absolutely. For a freshman to come into that situation in the biggest game of his career and perform like that.
Posted on 6/23/09 at 12:36 am to baseballguy24
matty ott has more composure than i've ever seen in a freshman. to put a kid out on the mound in a championship game and for him to know he can't give up anything, unreal. 3 scoreless innings. i am convinced
Posted on 6/23/09 at 12:38 am to baseballguy24
Mahtook is also the type to stay until his senior year.

i almost shat myself when he hit that batter to lead off the 10th inning. Then...cool as ice
