Best LSU Baseball team ever ?

imho
1) One two punch of Ranado and Coleman
2) Matty Ice the all time save leader
3) Excellent defense
4) Ability to hit for average and power
5) Chemistry / coaching / Intagibles
If and I say IF we are able to add a NCAA Champ to this list in THIS new era of parity in college baseball, this is the best team we have ever fielded

They are a fantastic team, but hyperbole is overrated.

Maybe if this team still used those bats who knows what the homerun count would be...
Comparing teams then and now using Homeruns is an apples to oranges argument.
With that said, i think this team is filled with a higher combined amount of talent than past teams...

A bit premature to call it, but this team is probably the best all around team the Tigers have ever had.

97 was better offensively but this team has better pitching....
96 team was pretty good overall though

The bats being dialed back is the big question mark to me..If we were using those bats today our numbers would be higher, and if those teams from the 90's were using today's bats no way you have 188...
Besides I really don't think the main way to measure the greatness of the team is by how many bombs it can hit.
Also, the subject post is not meant to be statement of fact..I will edit

I liked the Gorilla teams the best. Nothing like good ole steriods in college baseball.

I would say this may be the most 'complete' team LSU has ever fielded. The best? Who knows.

On the serious side, I really love pitching, defense, and the strategy of small ball. This team is fun to watch for me but I can understand why some would prefer the style of our old mashers. We have gotten to see some real web gems of late.

the 97 team was 57-13 and mauled so many teams. 188 HR's on offense to go along with power arms on the staff. They struck out a lot of guys. It's going to be very hard to top that team

Not sure if the best but for sure the most balanced.

I equate small ball to the option in football. If you're playing ahead that's great. But you're fricked if you fall behind.

If they keep playing like yesterday...and go undefeated, they have to be right up there. '97 team dominated. Yeah the bats were juiced, but they hit so many more HR's than the other teams who also had juiced bats. I gotta say '97 as of now.
