Given that we are facing a very good LHP in the opener with UVA don't you think that we should sit Jared Mitchell because (1) he struggles so much against lefties and (2) he strikes out ALOT

Why not start Helenini and keep Hanover at 3rd base?

Ask the asshat douchebag with the earrings who stands up in left field top row (sec 129). He'll tell you JM has done nothing all year.

Your question is not a bad one, though. I dunno.

I'm not trying to be a negatiger, but I like the Hanover/Helenihi combo against the lefty. Jared just has not done much against the lefties lately (for a while, actually), and it can't hurt to get another hot righty bat in the lineup.

Possible first round draft pick this Tuesday & you expect Mainieri to bench him on Saturday? Not likely.

that struggles against lefties. His draft status has nothing to do with strategy against left-handed pitching. Even top picks have weaknesses, bro.

I agree with you completely. Just pointing out that Mainieri's not likely going to bench a first round draft pick this week.

Whether he should or not is a completely valid question to argue though.

Do people forget when you sit someone their glove also sits, not just their bat?

Chance that this is a valid question: 1000%

Chance that it actually happens: 0.0000000%

Hopefully, Jared will catch fire.

I do believe Helinihi may start over Hanover. It will be as much for Defense as it is for Offense.

Yes, acre, which makes his question a good one. Helenihi, in RF, doesn't make us lose much...especially with that hose. Still, I wanna see JM in the lineup. We're 51-16 and he's a big part of that.

I agree he's defensively better in the OF than Helenihi, but I remember some costly plays by him in the SEC tourney in the OF. That, combined with pickoffs from time to time, shows his head just isn't in the game all the time.

I agree it won't happen, but it's a legitimate topic for discussion.

Would be nice if J MItch would try for a bunt single just ONCE in a while against a tough lefty. I cant remember him trying at all really...im sure ive missed a few games.

We have a winner! Mainieri will not bench a first round draft pick on the first game after he gets drafted.

i've seen him TRY to bunt a few times, but he looks absolutely horrible at it. you'd think with that speed he'd be able to bunt

J Mitch will be the first LSU player in the baseball draft, but Buzzy Haydel will be the first drafted in the sportscenter draft. Boy has skills.
