Beyond the regular ridiculousness of this, the NCAA won't let them play football, due to scholarship restrictions.

If you play football and another sport, and you are on scholarship for ONE of those sports, it has to be the scholarship in Football.
That is a NCAA rule.
You cannot walk on football and be a scholarship baseball player.

badams, I saw something in another thread recently discussing two sport athletes. I think the post said that if a school had a two sport athlete on scholarship, that the scholarship had to be charged to the "higher" sport. They made the point that football is considered higher than baseball, and that is why Chad Jones is on a football scholarship.
I am not saying that Landry or Gibbs would, or should, walk on to the football team, but, if they did, they may have to exchange their baseball scholarship for a football scholarship under NCAA rules, and then football scholarship limits would come in to play. That may be what the previous poster was meaning.

You are much quicker and more concise than I. I guess that is a hazard of my profession.

i actually played football, basketball, and baseball with Leon back when we were alot younger.. im actually a couple years older than he is but he was just so much of a raw athlete they always made him play against kids older than he was.. i doubt he steps anywhere close to the football field but by no means would it be a stretch to say he could excell at both sports
Posted on 5/28/09 at 12:16 pm to King Mello
I think it's a very large stretch

i could see gibbs coming before landry and did jared mitchell quit football

Mitchell did not quit football but he will be a first round draft pick in baseball so my guess is he is done with football either way.
