I hate Kornheiser as much as the next red-blooded football fan...but Gruden? WTF?

Did you watch the draft on NFL Network? He was funny, explained things well, and was worth a listen. I think he has great football knowledge, he knows the game and people in it, and he is not afraid to poke fun at himself. I think this will be a good thing. Not as good as Chris Collinsworth replacing Madden, but should be good.

I hope so.

To me it's easy to replace Kornhole anyway. I'd just as soon have Dennis Miller back.

Chuckie is definitely a twist that I didn't see coming.

thank God...i'm sick of hearing some dude that sounds like a flaming homo on MNF....Gruden is cool and got more interesting things to say than the feminine Kornheiser...

I like Kornheiser on PTI and I used to listen to his radio show every day, but he sucks arse on MNF. I think Gruden would be awesome. The dude knows his shite, is very well spoken and was great for the draft coverage.

Yahoo!Sports is reporting Kornheiser's reason for quitting is his fear of flying.

That never stopped Madden (although I wish it would've).

I agree with this move, but its gotta be short term only b/c I expect Gruden to be coaching again real soon.

I may be in the minority here but I liked Kornheiser in the booth. Sure he said some dumb shite every now and then, but so does everyone else. I don't like him out, but I do like Gruden in. Jaws is the best in the booth by far. I still think it will be good regardless of the change.

Now collensworth for madden, no freaking thanks.

"I am totally grateful for the MNF opportunity that I truly enjoyed the last three seasons," he said. "I feel we got better each year. My fear of planes is legendary and sadly true. When I looked at the upcoming schedule it was the perfect storm that would've frequently moved me from the bus to the air. I kept looking at the schedule the past month and wanted to find a way to quietly extricate myself."

"If I could handpick a replacement of a football guy, I would cast a net and drag in Jon Gruden," Kornheiser added. "He is the two things you most want -- smart and funny -- and has the two things I don't -- good hair and a tan. I love PTI and am looking forward to continuing to yammer and yodel with Wilbon until the end of time."

I was fixing to come on here and bash him for the flying excuse, but I'm not bcs he totally owns in. Also this is a perfect example of why I liked him. He said exactly what people wouldn't say. The things people reserve to be PC.

The quote above is pretty damn funny.

My thoughts exactly. He's great on PTI but horrendous on MNF. It was painful to hear how often he injected Brett Favre into the games.

We will disagree on this. Collinsworth is a great color commentator. He says things like it is and makes the complex things easy for people like me.

I used to hate Collinsworth and at some point this changed for me. There's only a handful of color guys that I'll keep the volume up for.

Collinsworth>>>>>>>>Madden...IMO.

I cant put my finger on it, but for some reason I just don't like him much. I'm willing to give anyone a shot here. I'm not trying to compare Collinsw to Madden at all, just saying I don't like Collinsw. Maybe it's bcs he used to work with Gumble, who made me want to hang myself.

But TK also has a daily show to do too. Madden just had football and travel.
