and Jamie Foxx. I'm about an hour into it and I think it sucks. Was not an Ali fan but am a boxing fan but this is a black history movie.

That and Deep Blue (I think that's the name of it. It's the one where Sam Jackson got eaten by a shark) are the only two movies I've ever walked out of.

Will Smith is kind of a joke of an actor to me.

I usually enjoy watching Will Smith, but I didn't like Ali much. It was too "disconnected" or something for my unsophisticated tastes!

Think I'll watch the Thrilla in Manilla special on HBO again instead.

The central character is a historical Black figure.

Kinda hard to exclude the plot line about him being Black.

if you like boxing then, this movie is not for you. it's more about ali's personal life/religion.

I agree about not liking Ali. I like Will Smith, and I don't personally dislike Muhamed Ali, but this movie was a puff piece.

There were a lot of "biography" type movies coming out back then. Ray was probably the best.

Yeah can you tell me what time period that movie took place in?? What was going on during that time period. It's no different from the movie about UTEP or Texas Western. That was probably more of a black history movie.

I wouldn't call him a joke actor, but I think his serious roles have been overrated. It just seems like he's overacting or being melodramatic. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I just never really like his serious roles.

I don't think its possible to over act when you're playing Ali

huh?

He played Ali well, just because you don't like the movie or Ali himself shouldn't take away from that.

He is a pretty damn good actor. Pursuit of Happiness, Seven Pounds, I Am Legend.

Yeah sure, he was Fresh Prince back in the day, but Jamie Foxx was worse in his shows and has also developed into a great actor.
