Miles' handling of this is very commendable.
I never really understood how a coach could restrict where a player transfers. There is already a set penalty for transferring in that you sit out for a year. That should be enough. After all, schools like to comment that scholarships are year-to-year when a player's scholarship is not renewed. If that is the case, why should a coach be able to restrict where a player chooses to transfer?
Before someone responds telling me the rule, I know the rule. Just stating my opinion of the rule.

It's easy to understand why a coach wouldn't want a walking, talking playbook transferring to a team he has to face every year.
They will pick his brain, and he will tell them everyrhing he knows, which hopefully isn't much, considering the new dc. Generally speaking, though, it's, a stupid move with no upside.
