Ate at Ruffino's in BR after leaving the Spring Game.

It was prom night, so there was that contingent, and the normal BR crowd. They let my buddy and me in, wearring shorts and tee-shirts. That was cool. We opted to eat at the bar.

Service was excellent.

Food was good to very good, but the best thing was this "Italian Butter" they serve with hot bread. Wow!

Olive oil, ABUNDANT herbs and butter (maybe)and plenty GARLIC, reduced untill it becomes a semi-paste. Spreadable on hot Italian Bread. I could make a meal of it alone!

Worth a trip, just for that. Good food and service is lagniappe!

So what is the normal BR crowd?

And as far as i know there is no dress code.

Ruffinos is a great place though. One of my top 5 favorites easily.

Didn't mean to snub. What I meant to convey is that my buddy and I were the least well dressed in the place. We had just come from the Spring Game and were very casual.

Everyone else was out for prom, or Saturday night on the town. Our service and experience was stil great. We were not pushed to a corner table or made to feel out of place.

The food was very good. The Italian butter was awesome. IMO.

I highly recommend the place.

P.S. I just read in the best steak thread that Ruffino's filet is very ggod as well. Maybe I will try it one day. Later.

Glad you liked it, one of my favorite places, they understand hospitality as well as food.

How's the neighborhood coming along, has St. Dominics ever reopened?

Hey!

North of Robert E Lee (Lakeshore) is 90% occupied. Lakeview proper is something like 70% occupied IMO.

All the schools have reopened except Hynes. They have relocated but are rebuilding on the same site. St. Dominic, St.Pius, Christian Brothers, St. Pauls Episopal, St. Luke's (on Canal down by I-10) are all open. Enrollment is down somewhat but strong.

BTW: Tony Angelo's is open.

Great to hear, I grew up in Metry, but had a lot of friends & relatives in Lakeview. I have a cousin who had a mansion on Swan overlooking the lake, I used to love to stay there.

Did La Cuisine reopen? Great place, had the oldest clientele of any restaurant in the city. My father used to say the age of the average diner there was deceased.

Very appropriate.

No, La Cuisine has not returned and likely will not. The building has been demolished. Most of the other businesses in that area (West Lakeview) have reopened. Things really aren't that bad in Lakeview. As before, most of the crime reports do not occur in or around Lakeview. The Lakefront has been renovated.

Landry's Seafood has replaced Joes Crab Shack which replaced Bart's. Southern Yacht CLub is rebuilt. Some of the yacht harbors are in decent shape.

Things are happening slowly.

One of the top restaurants in BR...can't go wrong there.

Been going to Ruffino's for quite some time on a regular basis and yes that Italian Butter is really awesome.
