And Mauck was better.

ETA: And Mauck is smarter. He's in dental school. Which means he was the smarter QB.

But Flynn is still in the NFL which could mean he is better?

Depends on what you need.

If you need Mauck to step in and win a NC, or Flynn to step in and win a NC,.... uh... nevermind.

Flynn...

Mauck played like crap in the NC game. Flynn was the Offensive MVP. That is the difference. I liked both.

2003 Oklahoma's defense>>>>>>>>>2007 Ohio State's defense. Not even close.

Mauck was much more consistent during the regular season. (except for one game, instead of Flynn's multiple faux pases) And actually led LSU to the title game instead of needing two upsets the last weekend.

Flynn led us to an outright, uncontested NC. I'll leave it at that.

Could you say neither... since both didn't lead us to anything and needed computers to get us in?

So we should be asking "Computers love LSU"

The fact that there wasn't another great team in 2007 besides LSU makes Flynn the better QB here?

ETA: nvm

We needed Syracuse to beat Notre Dame and Hawaii to beat or lose to Boise St in 2003 to get in.

OU defense 04 was better than the OH ST offense 07 no doubt. Our Offense scored 14 points against OU and 37 against OH St in 07. The defenses are a given.

Mauck nearly cost us against UGA in BTR by fumbling with 4 minutes left in the game in UGA territory, He also threw a pick 6 on his play against Ole Miss that year. His fumble on the OU 1 yard line and pick in the 4th quarter against OU nearly cost us a NC in 03.

Our defense won the NC in 04 and the offense won it in 07. You think the 03 QB was better?

Yes, that goes right back to 2003 Oklahoma defense>>>>>> 2007 Ohio State defense.

And Flynn was 11-2 as a starter, not 12-2 as your sig puts it.

But hold it a second now. They're not fast enough or athletic enough or have strong enough arms.

The 03 team didn't have or need a great QB to win. The 07 did. Mauck was steady but made alot of mistates that were mitigated by great defense play. Flynn had to often outscore teams to win.

I can say nothing else to prove my point.

FWIW- Flynn played 2 quarters and 3 OT with a seperated right shoulder. 5 years at LSU starting 1. Mauck left with a year of eligibility left.

And we lost.

That makes Flynn better how?

Mauck had a much better passer efficiency rating and a much better completion percentage.

You can't compare yards or TDs with them since Mauck played 2 more games than Flynn in 2003, even though Mauck set the LSU passing TD record. Flynn likely wouldn't have reached 28 TDs.

Flynn had much better rushing yardage and caught a pass against Bama. His first down on the FG fake against UF and fake FG toss to Colt David were awesome.

Flynn didn't play against Middle Tenn which would have padded his stats and Mauck didn't have a back up QB like Perriloux. Look at Mauck's stats against top ten ranked teams vs. Flynn's and get back with me.

I like Mauck but he was an average QB on a team with a superb Defense.

Besides the Pass to Green against UGA (After Mauck fumbled 2 minutes earlier) give me a Mauck moment to support your theory?

very underrated college QB. underrated seems to be the theme tonight.

anecdote: before the GA game, I told some Ole Miss buddies that I would rather have Matt Mauck running our offense than Eli Manning. They all "mocked" or "maucked" me .....

Later, they quoted me as saying that I thought Mauck would be a better pro player than Eli.
