Money, is the only answer. Oscar Robertson had retired and the team needed draft picks and money.

No. Getting the highest-profile NBA superstar back in Los Angeles where he could play for one of the two marquee teams in the league was the only reason.

Nobody in their right minds would trade players like Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Wayne Gretzky. And they both wind up in Hollywood. Hmmmm

But, hey. "It's in the best interest of the league."
