These 2 are the excitement of the PGA. Without them, how bad would the TV ratings be.

When he gets his 19th Major, then we can have this discussion.

As of now: Jack >> Tiger

I agree...enough threads available to discuss Tiger, besides several players were better yesterday...

Nicklaus still takes the cake as of today.

You guys need to make up your mind. You complain about another Tiger thread, but yet you keep reading and responding. Sound like women.

Tiger will be winning majors into his mid-50's with the kind of shape he is in, IMO (barring no major injury/accident). There are very few, if any, records that will not be broken by Tiger by the end of his run as a competitive pro.

I like to go by the Hit by the bus scenario. If he got hit by a bus today and died, he would not die the greatest golfer ever. Until he surpasses Jack, he's still #2.

Over the first 10 years of their careers...

Money lists: Nicklaus - 4, Tiger - 7

Vardon trophies: Nicklaus - 0, Tiger - 6
(Jack never won a Vardon trophy)

Wins: Nicklaus - 36, Tiger - 54

Major victories: Nicklaus - 9, Tiger - 12

Tiger may retire early, or be forced out by injury, but I think even Fat Jack would tell you that Tiger is better.

I agree, but I believe Tiger in his prime > Jack in his prime.

But, longevity and achievement have to be accounted for and that is why Jack is #1. Tiger just hasn't had the time yet.

And after the first 10 years of MJ's career he only had 3 rings like Kobe. MJ kept the party going though.

When judging guys, longevity has to be a factor.

career totals have to be taken in context. time frame comparisons are much more relevant at this point.

Not to mention the level of competition. I would have much rather have competed against Nicklaus competition than what Tiger has to compete with. Jack was great, but what Tiger does on a golf course is unreal.
