If you assume your lottery-pick-freshman stays then you have to make the same assumption across the board. It all evens out.
And you said "little doubt" we beat Carolina? I still think that game would be in doubt. Although, in this hypothetical situation, LSU would have played NC in the Sweet 16 as a 4 seed.

LSU with Randolph might have gone 16-0 in SEC play. It would have been scary.
