No, actually. It doesn't. Not at all. They serve absolutely no positive function, and in the worst instances directly contribute to negative consequences. Their childish and petty attempts to "stir things up" and "start shite" are nothing more than attempts to push other people's buttons for their own amusement, itself a symptom of emotional damage and poor mental health. Unfortunately their emotionally handicapped behaviour causes damage beyond their own mental health. Their attempts (when successful) trigger stress in their targets. Stress is a direct cause of high blood pressure which is a causal factor in heart disease and heart attacks. Thus, their attempts to "stir things up" are in fact direct assaults on the phyical health of others and deliberate attempts to cause a harmful effect. And since there is absolutely zero potential for positive benefit from their actions, they are wholely and completely harmful and damaging to everyone and everything with which they have contact.

So, no, the universe absolutely has no need for them.
